Hello! My name is Stephanie, and I am a junior attending Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. I am fairly new to the pen pal/swapping experience, but I would love to get more involved with snail mail.
I have started out small with snail mail by writing to friends and family, but I'm hoping that with the help of Swap-bot I can meet new people. I am really interested in meeting people from all around the world, and it would be fun to meet more interesting people.
I am studying Communications specializing in print journalism, hoping that I can become a reporter for a major newspaper or magazine. I have always loved to write, but I do not have the imagination to make up my own stories, that is why writing the great American novel was out of the question. In high school I discovered journalism and I fell in love with writing about the truth and what is happening around me.
I grew up living bi-coastally. During school and growing up I lived mostly with my mom in Los Angeles, while I visited my dad in Pittsburgh. When I started college, I moved to my dad's and now visit my mom during school breaks. Living bi-coastally has helped shape who I am, and helped create some of my hobbies and interests.
Some of my hobbies include traveling (while I hate planes, I do love where they have and can take me), listening to music, writing, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. I have a fun fascination with board games, my favorite is Clue, and I even have an irrational fear of licking envelopes. It stems from a long story involving paper cuts, and if I get to know you more I shall tell you more.
Happy Swapping!
I listen to a little bit of everything when it comes to music. I grew up being surrounded by different genres of music, so I will listen to about whatever will come on the radio. Some of my favorite genres include alternative, indie, classic rock, and 80's rock/pop songs. My favorite band is The Killers, one of the only bands that I can listen to no matter what mood I am in. While I do love music I have been to very few concerts and the only 3 that I have been to were more like bar or club concerts.
Reading books has always been an escape for me, a way to take a break from reality.
Some of my favorites are: 1. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling ( you can't go wrong with this series) 2. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde 3. 11/22/63 by Stephen King 4. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green 5. Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins 6. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald 7. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Movies are one of the few things that I love to see and even go to the theatre to see newly released movies, but I truthfully do not have a favorite movie. I love watching all genres of movies, especially comedies, sic-fi, action flicks, and even movies that are based on books.
Television is something that is always changing in my opinion. I like sitcoms, certain reality game shows, and even certain drama shows. For example some of my favorite shows include Big Brother, Friends, Game of Thrones, Criminal Minds, Downton Abbey, The Big Bang Theory, and anything that sounds interesting in previews.
I describe myself as artistically challenged when it comes to drawing and painting, but I make up for it with stickers, scrapbooking, and using many creative tools to make up for my challenge.
Some of the crafts that I like to do is scrapbook, doodle (if that can sound like craft), I enjoy trying to use water color, and I also have recently discovered the art of refurbishing furniture.
