A funky, spunky wife and also mother of a one year old son - Max, former sixth grade teacher, I have been grounded by my husband from thrift stores in the past. We just bought a new house on the upper Chesapeake in MD!!! I love the outdoors and anything that I can make with my hands. I love community service, saying hi to complete strangers and putting together interesting things to wear.
indie/folk music: Death cab for cutie, Jets to Brazil, The Promise Ring, Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, Jens Lekman, Sunfall Festival, Red house Painters, Simon and Garfunkel, The Walkmen, Bob Dylan . . . Other: Beatles, Billie Holiday, Norah Jones Umm... Lately I've had a leaning toward bluegrass??? Don't ask why.
Sound of Music, Elephant Man, Yarn Princess, Dead Poet's Society . . . Anything with a good moral story to it or that evokes emotion. I am usually disappointed with most recent movies - too much filth. I am pretty conservative. I don't watch anything rated R and I am picky aboutt my PG 13's - especially comedies. Filth I tell ya.
I don't really watch too much TV. I'll catch Oprah and Martha here and there - if I'm interested. I've been known to watch a few episodes of So you think you can dance this season with my 11 year old sister in law, Amanda. I think TV sucks the creativity out of kids, along with the computer and video games. When I taught school it was a bad word in my class to say the word X-BOX. Go outside and make a mud pie, build a blanket fort or play some neighborhood four-square.
Collage, repurposing thrift store finds, decoupage, quilting, journaling. I love old marbles, ribbon, buttons, rick rack, paper, ephemera etc. My house is pretty much my canvas . . . I love thinking of funky ways to decorate and arrange things. I love things that make you think . . or are arranged in an unusual way. I have a wish to find an old TV and gut it to make it into a bookshelf of sorts - you know . . make a statement. I am kind of surprised that movies and TV shows are on here and not a category like: Things you collect, favorite colors, favorite books, things that inspire you . . .
