I am a 26-year-old, self-employed pastry chef living in the Niagara Region of Canada. As well, I am the head pastry chef for a hip, fun wedding cake business in Toronto and participate in my local market on a weekly basis. I'm finishing up my M.Ed and hope to find a job teaching the wonders of food to teenagers while still maintaining my own business. Recently, I have started running. I run 4 mornings a week and have found it to be a great stress reliever. It is sometimes hard to drag my sorry self out of bed, but my partner is a great motivator. He and I are hoping to run a half marathon by the summer.
I love most music, but what I turn to most is folk. I really enjoy new folk singers, like the Be Good Tanyas and Sarah Harmer, but can often be found with The Kingston Trio or Leonard Cohen in my stereo. I have a record player and love the sound of vinyl. Latest purchase was a mint copy of The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, and I'd highly recommend.
Love Actually, hands down! I've been a Wizard of Oz fan since I was a wee girl, and you can't tear me away from films like The Sound of Music, The Ten Commandments or the classic Planet of the Apes. It might look like a Charlton Heston fetish, but it's not! Monty Python makes me laugh until I cry and I enjoy finding everyday scenarios to pepper with Python quotes.
Oh boy, here is where everyone finds out that I am a huge nerd. I am addicted, most unhealthily to the new Battlestar Galactica. Most other times I am tuned into the Food Network.
I'm an experimental knitter. I sew and do paper crafts. I've returned to cross-stitching and have been whipping up fun designs for my girlfriends. Growing up, my single mother always had my sister and I messing about in all kinds of crafty things. I love to try new things and love to give my creations away. I saw some pin cushions the other day and I am going to attempt to make some up for the sewers in my family. I am also intrigued by this whole ATC thing that seems rampant in the swapping circuit. I feel I need more info...
