30 something NYC based, nature loving, mixed media artist with a passion for collaborative arts, teaching and travel. I have four moody but wonderful cats and a lovely partner (who is thankfully far less moody than the cats)!
My favorite colors are seaside blues and greens (not pastels but rich colors), copper, sage green, silver as well as quinacridone reds, violets and magentas.
Sending mail bursting with creativity and surprises is a particular joy to me. I particularly savor sending and receiving original art (hand painted, drawn, photgraphed, mixed media etc), postcards, bits of art, art supplies, zines and surprises. I also love old coins, bits of pottery, worn/tarnished metal and unusual natural elements to incorporate into artwork and bookmaking.
Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco, Melissa Ethridge, Annie Lenox, Dixie Chicks
Water, Fire, Real Women Have Curves, This Film is Not Yet Rated, Born into Brothels, Muriel's Wedding, Quinceanera, Crash, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Mostly Martha, Monsoon Wedding, the Constant Gardner, Whale Rider, Amelie, The Color Purple
Indies, dramas, smart comedies and documentaries are always favorites but I also indulge in "chic flicks"!
Most recently I liked the Namesake.
Now that I have TIVO and can zip through commercials I actually watch TV! My current favorite is Planet Earth. Others include Heros, ER, Law & Order, Project Runway, L-word, Bones, Ellen, the Daily Show, Without A Trace, anthropology, nature, science and travel shows. I miss Six Feet Under and Alias!
Above all I enjoy drawing, assemblage painting, alternative photography, art journaling, collaborative art, figurative sculpture, bookbinding and generally making something startling and inspiring from discarded bits and pieces that I find in daily life.
Anything from basic materials and original imagery is always exciting. (I'm not into purchased ephemera/kit crafts etc. or scrapbooking and I can't sew or knit at all but I do enjoy making jewelry.) I am a Stabilo Tone/Woody junkie and am soooo sad they are no longer made!
