I'm a compulsive maker-of-stuff with the fabric, glitter, and bead stashes to prove it. I can't stand to not be busy making something, even if it's just aimless doodles on my bank statement.
I am regularly working on several projects at once, and they are usually spread around the house in varying states of unfinishedness. I guess I like variety, or maybe I just suffer from attention deficit disorder. OR maybe I just want to do everything at once.
When I was a teenager, I exchanged FBs in the mail and had a lot of pen pals. I loved the open-ended process of creating whatever I wanted within the limits of a page in a FB. Years later, I started doing ATCs and rediscovered that joy. I was involved in a few different mail art groups in the early 2000's, but a combination of parenthood, starting my own business, and naturally shifting interests sent me in other creative directions. I am hoping to get back into art exchanges and look forward to taking part in some swaps.
I have my own business selling my artwork. I sell prints, buttons, magnets, and mugs with my images on them. They are colorful, mostly monster-themed, a little odd, and extremely nerdy. (Which is a pretty good description of me, now that I think about it.)
I also make screen printed plush animals like sloth, axolotl, guinea pigs, and cats. My favorite thing to make is one-of-a-kind monster plush from my own pattern. You can visit the links under my name above to see examples of my business work.
I love feminism, equality for all, and kindness, kindness, kindness.
I love animals, especially dogs, beetles, fish and sea animals of all kinds, birds, and less common animals like capybara, okapi, and tapir.
I love color! Especially pink, orange, and anything striped. Rainbow is good, too.
I am always looking for fabric scraps and random collage materials to add to my stash.
I am currently learning Japanese, so I like Japanese related art themes, both traditional and modern. If you are a native Japanese speaker, 一緒に、日本語で話しましょう。^__^
I don't watch much TV, but I do stream shows online and watch movies on my laptop while I work. I like Japanese anime, British detective shows, and pretty much anything with a smart, independent female lead.
Negativity.
Prejudice.
Intolerance.
Mosquitoes.
My favorite crafts vary, depending on my mood, but here's a list of things I like to do:
✩ rubber stamp carving
✩ block printing on fabric + paper
✩ screen printing (mostly fabric)
✩ gelatin printing on fabric + paper
✩ fabric dyeing
✩ crochet including amigurumi
✩ sewing plushies
✩ slow stitching / embroidery
✩ modern quilting / improv piecing
✩ combining any of the above!
I keep a sketchbook/planner that I draw and doodle in regularly. It's more of an artsy, messy journal than one of those beautiful, carefully crafted bujos I regularly drool over on pinterest. :)
When I am not working on my various business-related art projects, I crochet while I watch movies, or work on quilting projects.
FABRIC
I am looking for fabric scraps and am happy to do a trade if anyone else is looking for new fabrics. I seem to gravitate toward smaller prints, stripes and dots, and rarely florals, so it would be great to branch out a bit. It's always interesting to step out of your comfort zone.
PAPER
A while ago I thought I was done with collage and got rid of a big stash of papers during an ill-advised moment of downsizing. I'm slowly building my collection back up, and generating tons of printed images with gelatin plate printing, but I'd be happy to do a trade if anyone has extra papers they'd like to be rid of.
I can offer gelli printed papers and tissue, as well as rubber stamped images, and even stickers, buttons, and magnets from my store: fishcakes.net
