I broke my elbow ice skating and have not skated for 18 months:( But this week March 2016 I went back. I still love but I am very wobbly! I am still crafting. I am gradually moving from cards to other things like journals ( I still enjoy doing scrap booking). My children all have exam years this summer...poor things. Degree, A levels and GCSEs.
Latest news:( I have broken my wrist 8 Oct 2013 whilst ice skating. No ice skating for at least three weeks - and then only if i can promise not to fall on my plastered arm!. It's my right wrist and I am right handed so swaps are a no go at the moment.I really miss crafting.:(
( 3 September 2013) I have passed my level 10 ice skating...that's the last one of the baby levels...now I am going for bronze. I am so happy!
I was away at Camp Bestival ( an alternative rock festival with a bias for families) and returned on 5th August Monday evening.
While practicing for an ice skating competition with a large group of people ( 30 of us - the competition is called 'Team Challenge' -I fell over backwards, hit my head and ended up in hospital concussed and with a few stitches in my head. I am fine but will not be doing that competition...I'm just not quite good enough..maybe next year...but I am going to cheer the group instead!
The things that make me me are: ice skating badly but loving every minute of it: Spending far too much time in my craft room: Having a great husband who is ok with not having dinner on the table and always running out of milk, eggs and bread.: having three children who can sometimes be troublesome and then at other times be amazing: walking the dogs even when its raining: being a trustee of a local charity and a governor of a local school.
28 April 2013..First competition for my Synchro ice skating team...so nervous
Update on the skating..no one fell over, we remembered all the steps and we had fun! We didn't win anything...but we were up against very young teams and our team of 9 had a combined age of 400!
I don't usually listen to music for music sake. After a while I get fed up with it. However I love country and western, ballads, gypsy rock. In particular I like Bond and Adimus. Instead I tend to use my Ipod to listen to books. When I do listen to music I am thinking - ' Can I skate to this ?' I play the piano and guitar and am trying to play the ukelele.
I love sci fi and fantasy novels as long as they are not blatant love stories. I like books that are not too exciting, or thrilling. I belong to a book club which is good as it gets me to read other genres. I tend not to choose period novels...
I love paper crafting but I am not a completer finisher so I struggle to do things that need me to be precise. I create cards then cannot get rid of them so I decided to write to my daughter every week while she was at uni. Then to her friends as well. Also to my mum! So now I have to create 7 cards a week to satisfy this. Sometimes it is difficult to get them all out on time...sometimes its difficult to know what to say!
I am afraid that I do like glittery things and big things but have no favorite colours. I like geometric abstract designs rather than scenery with buildings or animals. This is probably because this is easier to create as I am not an artist! I am a very messy crafter and have to stop once in a while to find my desk!
I am into Ice skating stuff for making cards or scrap booking .In particular I collect cutting dies, rubber stamps and now postage stamps that relate to ice skating
I cant think of anything I would not like to receive... that's probably not helpful but maybe this will change in a while once I experience things like the goodie swap!
I like all colours. I like sparkly things on my projects :)
