HIYA! I'm Rachel. I was born and raised in a small town in North Carolina, but my heart is in the big city.
I have my associates degree in surgical technology and had the great privilege of completing my internship in the neurosurgery department of a level one trauma center.
I really love my plant babies.
Personal stuff:
I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2012. Not glamorous, I know, but diseases usually aren't. I don't personally know many people with IBD, so I would love to chat with fellow Spoonies! Additionally I have primary sclerosing cholangitis, a liver disease that I "share" with one of my brothers.
Anxiety!
My mom is fighting metastatic breast cancer (stave IV) If anyone needs support through any of these things (cancer, IBD, mental health), please know I am here for you. I'm not a therapist (though I do see one, lol) but I am compassionate and care about you.

My taste in music, as some of you will see, is kind of all over the place. I'm always browsing for something new. I love Tori Kelly and am currently counting down the days to my second time seeing her in concert.
Other favorites include Colony House, Kansas, The Band, Dawes, Daughtry, Alice Merton, Taylor Swift, Kodaline, etc.
Send me a mix tape so I know it's real.
"She is too fond of books, and it has turned her brain." - Louisa May Alcott
I'm a huge reader. While mostly Young Adult/New Adult, I try to read a little bit of everything and am always looking for recommendations. If I can use this space to recommend any one thing or author to you, it would be Colleen Hoover. I've read her Slammed series at least four times over.
Currently reading: Harry Potter for the very first time! Don't spoil me.
My all-time favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz!
Cinderella has always been my favorite Disney princess, followed closely of course by all things Frozen.
I'm a sucker for anything on Lifetime or Hallmark. Most of my favorites are actually Christmas movies.
If I'm not reading, I'm watching TV. It has admittedly gotten out of control.
The Good Doctor
The Resident
The Good Place
New Girl
Supernatural
Chicago PD
Chicago Med
Gilmore Girls
Blindspot
Flashpoint (the Canadian one, not the animated one)
...and others I'm probably forgetting. I'll try to keep this updated. I like the oldies too. Laverne and Shirley, Friends, Charles in Charge, The Facts of Life, I Love Lucy....
I'm not as crafty as I think I am. I've picked up things like knitting and cross stitching, but I always end up abandoning projects. I have a touch of arthritis that doesn't help either.
I enjoy photography, journaling, and collecting coins.
Pens
Pins/patches
Stationary, washi tape
Journals (and fun journal prompts!)
Books
Coffee (K-cups!)
Chocolate (milk or white, but I'm open to trying new things. Bonus points for caramel filling)
Candy (both sweet and sour. I would especially love to try some from other countries)
Garden Salsa Sunchips
Recipes (I enjoy baking more than anything)
Jewelry (I do have pierced ears)
Souvenirs (like magnets, ornaments, post cards, etc)
Wizard of Oz/Judy Garland things
Perfume oils or samples
Mix CDs!
PLANTS. I raise Christmas cacti.
(I've yet to discover anything I'm allergic to, yay!)
Vulgarity, crude humor, etc
"Erotica"
The word "serendipity." Worse than moist.
Otherwise I'm a pretty tolerant (although sarcastic) person. As long as you're nice, I'll be nice back!
