Hi - I'm an all-round and self declared obsessive crafter that enjoys learning new techniques. I have crocheted and knitted from an early age and went ballistic for knitting when my children were born, booties, jumpers, blankets, toys – the list is endless.
My love of yarn and natural fibres, namely sheep wool and linen drove me to explore spinning and more recently weaving. I love spinning, on the drop spindle and the wheel. Sometimes I spin for the sheer love of it, seeing how the fibre becomes the yarn, especially if its fibre that I’ve dyed too!
The weaving is more recent. It started with inkle and tablet weaving, but has been up scaled to the rigid heddle and maybe the 4-shaft will be added later (when I have time, space and money….)
Re-enactment and LARP have been a part of my life for too many years to count, which give a great inspiration and for more crafts, so the inkle weaving and spinning get a genuine justification. So then there is sewing costume and embroidery to add, so the list gets longer.
More recently I have been drawn to quilting. At first it was an excuse to learn more about my sewing machine, but now I’m hooked. I love the colours and the patterns and the variety of projects that can be truly functional too!
wow - I love colour!!
Purple has to be my absolute favourite. My Living Room colour theme is deep reds, golds and rust tones
