Hello everyone! My name is Stacy, a 27 year old Special Ed. teacher from Missouri. I am currently in grad school studying Special Education and Communication Disorders. I am also busy planning my wedding to the love of my life, which will take place very soon on September 19th, 2009. Afterwards we will be spending 10 glorious days in Hawaii, and we couldn't be more excited!
What else can I say about me? I have no human children, but consider myself a loving mother of four fur babies. We have one St. Bernard (who thinks he's a lap dog), a Black Lab, and two cats. We are huge animal lovers, and are currently looking into adopting a Scottish Terrier. I love the simple things in life and I'm very easily amused. I watch way too much reality tv and buy way too many office supplies, organizational items, and anything wedding related. I'm a self-proclaimed nerd, and I have no shame admitting it. I love writing out to-do lists. I make one every day.
My family and friends are the most important people in my life. My brother and sister (23 and 12) are two of my best friends. I could spend all day doing absolutely nothing with the two of them. My brother just finished a five-year contract with the Marine Corps and is in school studying to be a history teacher. My sister just started seventh grade, and is so, so beautiful. She is busy with baton and poms, and we are frequently out of town for her competitions.
I have a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. I love trying new things and I love setting and accomplishing new goals. One of my main goals is to join the Peace Corps. I am hoping this is something I can do in the next few years.
I love photography. I can find beauty in just about anything. I love collecting things. I love organizing everything. I consider myself to be incredibly random, but who isn't? I talk a lot and laugh all the time. I have a slight addiction to buying calendars and Sharpies. I love so many things, including books, especially books related to teaching, traveling, taking pictures, collecting pictures and postcards, Kawaii, journaling/journals, Lolita wine glasses, I adore Hello Kitty (especially Chococat), Kelly Clarkson, Peter Gallagher, John Mayer, stickers, stationary, office supplies, patterns (especially polka dots and stripes), different fabrics, candles, Build-a-Bear, books, LUSH bath products, nail polish, and just about anything.
I have been working with children for almost a decade. I started out working as a preschool teacher and somehow found myself working with children with disabilities. I am currently working at a high school with students struggling with mental disturbances and behavior disorders. I am very passionate about my job, and about Autism research. As I said above, I am currently in graduate school studying Special Education and Communication Disorders, and ultimately like to work as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
I have an obsession with art. I love getting lost in the SLAM (St. Louis Art Museum). I am obsessed with photography and Kurt Halsey paintings. I love to scrapbook, make cards, and paint pottery. I annoy my friends and family with my incessant picture taking. I love old photographs, and am always on the lookout at garage sales and flea markets. I adore art and photos (or anything) from other countries.
I basically love all music. I love everything from Flogging Molly to Kelly Clarkson to Ludo (local band) to Miles Davis to Journey. My all-time favorites include Journey, The Rolling Stones, John Mayer, Kelly Clarkson, Jem, Jimmy Eat World, Ryan Adams, and Billy Joel. I also LOVE musical theater. I have seen RENT, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Hairspray, and many others. I am looking forward to seeing Phantom again this year, and Wicked in 2010.
Books: I will read anything and everything. I am currently reading "Lucky" by Alice Sebold and Tori Spelling's first book "sTORItelling". I recently finished (for the second time) "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold and "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. My library card is used ten times more than my credit card. I also have library cards from two different counties and the city of St. Louis.
Movies: "Freedom Writers", "The Family Stone", "Pretty In Pink", "The Secret Garden", "RENT", Any Hitchcock film
TV: I LOVE reality television. I am always watching HGTV. My favorites are House Hunters and My First Place. I also love Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. I know that probably sounds ridiculous, but I am absolutely love Tori Spelling. She cracks me up.
Other favorites are Weeds(!!), Dexter, Grey's Anatomy, Army Wives, and Big Love. I am also a big fan of Gilmore Girls, Everwood, and LOST. True Blood is sitting on my nightstand from Netflix. I should probably get around to watching that as well. I'm hesitant because I do not need another addiction!
My favorite networks are Showtime, HGTV and Bravo. I could sit and watch HGTV all day. I especially love House Hunters and Designer's Challenge.
I love green. My eyes are green. My favorite drinking glasses have green polka dots. My iPod cover is green. I think you all get the picture. :)
I also love bright colors. I love sage green. I love almost all shade of blue. I like pink and purple in moderation. I love pale yellow and neutral colors.
I love milk chocolate. I do not care for white or dark chocolate. I love KitKats and chocolate/yogurt covered pretzels. I love Toffee! I love sour candy, particularly Twizzler Sourz and any kind of sour gummy worms. I prefer pie to cake, but still love the icing off the cake. I love peanut butter cookies.
My favorite restaurant is California Pizza Kitchen. My guilty pleasure food at the mall are Auntie Ann's Pretzels. I love the cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory, but do not care much for the dinner menu. I love authentic Italian cuisine. Read: Not Olive Garden! :)
