Response: Actually, quite a few... I have a good friend in Finland who caches :)
Response: If you want, you can try it with Google maps and a printer. We did that for a week r two until we decided we liked it enough to splurge on the GPS (which we got on Craigslift for like $60).
Response: You can actually do Geocaching with just a printer and Google Maps but a GPE or iPhone makes it easier. You can grab a GPS for like $100 on Craigslist.
Response: It's surprisingly simple. And the best part is, if you have any questions, anyone else on the site or in your area is happy to help :)

I'm actually keeping a folded copy in my wallet now. As for the train in Tokyo, I'm over 6'2 (about a head taller than 99% of Tokyo), so I always felt like Godzilla when packed in the Tokyo metro with everyone else :)
