----1 Themed Mini Art Quilt (6”X6” to 15”X15”)

For our first mini “Under-the-Sea” did you think of a mermaid? How about a momma whale and her baby? I know what about a clown fish or two?

You are the creator of this little art quilt so use your imagination and your best skills to produce whatever says “Under-the-Sea” to you! The mini does not have to be square and feel free to add embellishments and anything else you think applies to the theme.

Perhaps you want to paint on fabric, or do some embroidery work, or use lots of beads and shells. Whatever you decide is allowed as long as it meets the few requirements above.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact me.

Be watching next month for swap #2 “For-the-Birds” mini art quilt.

Enjoy!

Love your idea!

thank you June....I'm excited to get to work on these mini's. If they go over well, we might try another series of mini's soon.

Be nice if it were all designated sizes just in case we wanted to put them all together as is.

Momta3luv2Quilt 04/ 6/2012 #

Just to be clear... This is going to be a completed mini quilt right? Top, batting and backing?

perkl8r 04/11/2012 #

Yes @Momta3luv2Quilt this is a completed miniature quilt which includes all three layers of the quilt sandwich and any hand or machine quilting, embelishments or trims you care to add.

@ladydy5 I think I understand your statement but if we designate a sized art quilt we would eliminate part of the creative process. We do have a general size requirement so that no one gets cheated in too small a quilt,. --at least 6"X6" to as large as 15" X 15". (these sizes are the usual "swap-bot mini art quilt measurements" and are used as a guide only.) As a reminder, these mini's do NOT have to be square and the size requirements are just general data to use as a guide.

Thank you ladies for your messages. I hope you enjoy this series of swaps.

you could still put them all together :-D . You just have to get creative with the bordering. Arghh its been so long since I sewed. The first mini I did I had throw out. All my points matched but the darn thing wouldn't sit flat :( . back to the beginning!

ladydy5 04/18/2012 #

True MichelleK they could still be put together, don't know if I would take all the time to do that, so I will be happy with just a swappers creative abilities and may even frame them.
