Description:

Our last mail art swap was pretty popular, so let's do it again.

Mail art is just art that is sent, visibly, through the postal system. For the purposes of this swap, our art will be on an envelope.

  1. Get or make an envelope. Size requirement: Your envelope should be large enough to hold a folded note card or postcard.

  2. Decorate the front of your envelope with art. Do whatever kind of art makes you happy - drawing, painting, collaging, stamping, zentangling, etc. Stickers are allowed, but if you use stickers, you must also use at least two additional elements (i.e., inked background + stamped lettering, or watercolors + glitter). If you've never created mail art and need inspiration, google "mail art" or look it up on Instagram or Flickr or Pinterest. There are literally thousands of examples on the internet.

  3. Sender's choice for theme and colors, but it is a nice gesture to avoid anything that's on your partner's dislikes list.

  4. Decorating the back of the envelope is optional.

  5. In your envelope, enclose a note card or letter. Tell your partner about your inspiration for your mail art envelope, how you created it, and what kind of art makes you happy.

  6. Send ON TIME. This is part of the swap requirements, and you risk being rated a 3 if you send late.

As always, rate promptly and accurately, and communicate if there are any problems.

Hi TC! Do we send the actual art through the mail, or put it in another envelope so the receiver can use it? Thanks, Kathleen
