QnT LIGHTHOUSE quilt block swap series

1-25-16 thru 3-23-16

--1 LIGHTHOUSE block with light shining

--1 partner

Make your LIGHTHOUSE quilt block using any pieced, appliqued, or embroidered pattern you want.

Each block mailed should be 9 ½”X9 ½” or bigger. If you find a pattern you like that is a little smaller add a coordinating border to bring it up to at least 9 ½”X9 ½” before mailing. Perhaps a white or navy blue border would work. Recipients may post below any special requests regarding the block they will receive but this is ultimately SENDERS choice.

If we have enough interest in this swap I would love to do several more thru out the year. I want to make a quilt wall hanging with nautical themes but especially with LIGHTHOUSES.

Each LIGHTHOUSE should have a light shining out maybe over the water or towards the sky. This will be an important feature to the block. You may add other features to your block like boats, birds, people, or anything nautical as long as you have at least one LIGHTHOUSE with the light shining out. Each LIGHTHOUSE should be something you made not a LIGHTHOUSE already printed on fabric. You can hand or machine embroider a LIGHTHOUSE, or if you prefer you can applique or piece one instead.

Do your best to make a creative appealing LIGHTHOUSE that your partner will be thrilled to receive.

We will have a full month to make each block so we don’t have to rush. If you decide to join this swap you may begin on the block right away. If you join be committed to doing a great job!

This idea is darling but my skills are not up to it yet-if someone would like to do a private swap where you make what this swap states and I either cross stitch you something (light house or other) or do profile surprise or gift card for a particular amount that would be lovely. PM me if interested.

I will PM you @EmilyT

Thanks for getting back to be!

OK, I will be brave and I'm joining and it will be hand embroidered. And I would be happy receiving embroidered, appliqué, or pieced.

My brain spazzes out and panics when it hears embroidery because I think of all the intricate vintage crewel patterns/kits. (which I love and binge buy at the thrift store but don't stitch) and Brazilian Embroidery (the favored and so beautiful specialty of my local embroidery shop) and I think I can't do it. There's my TMI for the week, lol.

this one looks simple enough to piece without buying the Quilt Pro software!

Here's a simple paper pieced version:
