Description:

This is the second swap in our series of swaps for learning/honing art journal page techniques that can, of course, be translated to canvas too!

For this swap, we're going to create a 5x7 art journal page that is made, in part or whole, with aluminum (tin) foil.

In our first swap, I gave fairly specific instructions on how to get the texture required however for this one, I am leaving the creative impetus to you. The only requirement is that the page must be made, in part or whole, of aluminum foil adhered to a substrate that is suitable for the medium (media) being used. In other words, don't use foil and acrylic on printer paper! The substrate (paper) must be able to withstand the process without falling apart or warping.

I will say that there are loads of ideas on YouTube. You can emboss designs in the foil, adhere the foil and paint over it, use gesso and foil, quilt the foil - so this is really going to be up to you to explore this particular medium and how you would like to work with it.

Administrivia

  • ONE 5x7 art journal page created with aluminum foil as described above to ONE partner. NOTE: This page is front only, and you do not need to leave a margin for binding. It is entirely up to your partners to decide how to use or display the page. Please do sign the back of the page as the artist though!

  • Ship flat and in a sturdy envelope so that it doesn't bend in transit.

  • Include your username and swap name in the envelope. Optional - Feel free to include a note talking about what you loved or hated about this technique!

  • Send on time, rate promptly. If you're going to be late, communicate with myself and your partner. Late sends without communication perfectly warrant a 3. Flaking will have you removed from the group.

  • And of course, I will angel on the off-chance that someone gets flaked on.

Feel free to DM or leave questions in the comments!

I'm quite intrigued by this. Reminds me of stuff I did in primary school decades ago! I'm in...

I like tin foil - so shiny!

RooBaRoo 10/30/2017 #

Is there a required thickness of the foil?

renmagpie 11/ 6/2017 #

@RooBaRoo - Think kitchen foil thickness if that makes sense.

Thanks :)

This has been very hard to do, lol!! What a great experience!! ♥

Hard doesn't come into it! Boyfriend would have a fit if he knew how much kitchen foil I've just wasted....

Art journals like these are just amazing, aren't they? If you want more journals like these, just click here on my website. You'll find many others.

ever heard of the statement we give you nothing but best, this statement best fits for THW They provide top quality almunium extrusion profiles such as windows/door profiles, industrial profiles, sunroom profiles and so much more. their extruded profile is the only profile every one needs and must have as they have best designs of high quality.

Are five people really even necessary when it comes to this swap? It's only here that I've found out about the fact that there are five people in the swap, but it just doesn't make too much sense. Someone help me out here please!.

Installation is not easy - the tracks have to be perfectly aligned, and more than one person is required to install a sliding door. aluminum door threshold
