Description:

I'm loving all the Christmas projects around and have decided to jump in boots and all, hoping to have a Christmas quilt finished for Christmas 2010 (I take a long time to baste/quilt the project, so sue me). Let's think outside the box and go with a finished 12.5" square block, but it can consist of 4 x 6.5" sqs, 16 x 4.5" sqs or even strips say, 2 x 6.5" x 12.5", any size that equals a 12.5" finished square. This way the recipient can move things around for a bigggg quilt or a few smaller wall hangings, table runners. The swap will run for 12 mths so if you're in for the long haul you'll end up with 12 x 12.5" sq blocks, that's at least 3' x 4' without sashing/borders:) You will have 4 weeks to make each "block" and 'cos we're starting now the last block will arrive after Dec 15 next year, hence me hoping to finish it by Christmas 2010! Please no flakers, if you don't intend to send a block please don't sign up. Profiles will be checked. Any ??? feel free to ask below or pm me. Let's have Christmas fun for a whole year!

Have already had a ??? re fabrics. You can use whatever fabric fits your block, either Christmas or reds/greens etc. I'm seeing blocks with trees, snowmen, Santa, stars, use whatever traditions your country/family have for ideas. For example, here in thelanddownunder Christmas is in summer so Santa might be riding a surfboard rather than a sleigh LOL.

Hello!- Will the person that I send to also have my name? Thanks

procknows 12/ 1/2008 #

Christmas in summer. I never stoped to think about that but it makes sence. So do you use snowman stuff at Christmas time? I have never been out of the U.S. so this is fun stuff I am learning through this site.

Just want to clarify - that each block, each month has to be in christmas fabric??/thanks/debbie

LORRAINET 12/ 2/2008 #

yes thats Santa on a surf board.......eating prawns on the beach in a pair of red shorts with a long white beard...........going to be a very creative set of blocks

Welcome ladies. Preservingmemories2000, swap-bot does random partnering so the more participants the less chance of you getting both partners the same. But you are welcome to let your partner know any preferences you have, you all are.:) Procknows, yeah we still use the snowmen thing. More Aussies are starting to get away from a hot meal and go for salads or barbecues 'tho. It is fun learning this stuff isn't it? Quiltlover, hi Debbie. If christmas fabrics fit otherwise whatever is necessary for your christmas themed block/s eg. santa on a sleigh is christmassy but maybe not necessarily in christmas prints. You could even do a stitchery if that's your thing. Choice is sender's. Hi Lorraine, yes that's a very aussie christmas scene. We may need to somehow show pics of our blocks/quilts.

I would love for my blocks to be anything christmasy....except santa. I don't do santa. Prefer snowmen, gingerbread men, etc, etc. I will add this to my profile.
