I am...communication and socialization challenged. This keeps me from joining any sort of correspondence or friendly chit-chatting sorts of swaps and interactions. Even simple postcard swaps make me nervous. I mention my social awkwardness/anxiety on my profile and from time to time get compliments from others who struggle with the same issues. I think there are quite a lot us out here as art/creativity is a great escape from these feelings of inadequacy. Anyway. Enough with the preamble. I'd like to start hosting more “correspondence with training wheels” sorts of swaps for us introverted and socially awkward folks. Easy, straight-forward correspondence swaps that don't require 2 pages of chat recounting your day and a tea bag. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just not for me. Does this mean that only self-identified introverts and misfits can join these swaps? No, of course not. Whatever you are, however you feel: join and have fun. First up, a questionnaire! There are over 30 questions listed below (compiled from various sources). Pick 7 you would like to answer, then continue reading to find out what to do with them for this swap.
The swap:Take the 7 questions you like best and answer them on a sheet of paper. But don’t just write or type the answers - GET CREATIVE! Add cut out images, stamped images, doodles, fancy lettering, borders, stickers, different colors--go wild personalizing your answers and making it interesting for your partner to read. You can be as simple or detailed with your answers as you like. No judgements allowed. This is being listed as a Type 3 swap and not a Type 2 because of the creative component. Please spend some time arting up & decorating your answers. Write the swap title somewhere on your page (or on the envelope), fold it up and send it out! This is an international swap as it will mail flat easily with one stamp. Question sources: Buzzfeed, Paired Life, Conversation Starters World, Hobby Lark, HelloGiggles, Forbes |
