I saw this swap yesterday and could not find it today to join. I looked in all kinds of headings and still could not find it!!! I ended up emailing the moderator and got a message back VERY quickly with the link to this. I have my beads all ready, just need to decorate the 2 boxes!!!!!

Can we use a mint tin instead? I don't even know where to get a matchbox these days!

I think it can be ok if it's pretty.anyway you can even make a matchbox on your own.

Hi klissa, I think the boxes here are smaller, can you please tell me what is the size (inch/cm) of the match box? I tried to put 20 beads and they couldnt all fit in...

approx 5x3 cm...of course if you are using a lot of big beads it won't be enough..i think you can send 2 lil matchboxes or one bigger or maybe you can put some beads in a little bag or something...at your choise!just be sure they won't broke travelling

Thanks klissa, I tried putting smaller beads and they do fit now :) Maybe I'll send two boxes, I will think about it!

Since this is my first matchbox swap, I have no idea how to mail it. How do you protect it you it does not get squished?? I am sending way over 20 beads, that box does not hold very many...lol

mickey betz,i think you can fill the matchbox in some envelope...i use little plastic bags

I have a question for any and all Canadian swappers

....how much do you usually pay to ship small parcels to the states? They told me 7 dollars at the post office, and if that's the case I'm in big, big trouble, since I'm up for a lot of swaps :S What mystifies me the most is that the larger packages I've been getting from teh opposite direction (states) all have stamps on them for about 90 cents. Arg! What do I do now? How do Canadian swappers do this affordably? I love the idea of swapping and don't want to give it up before I've even really started because of high postage! Thanks, Spoon

When I sent mine to the UK, I paid about 3.75/package for air mail so you shouldn't be paying $7 each to the U.S. Make sure you're not paying for priority shipping or that you're not putting it an oversized envelope as these things can increase shipping. I'm just a newbie too, so I'm certainly not an expert, but hopefully maybe that helps.

Kat, do you mind my asking where you're located? How did you send it? Currently what I'm going for is small parcel post, airmai to US. And it needs a customs sticker and everything. If I can squeeze it down so that it could fit into a mailbox it costs $1.86. Next time you go to the post office to send a swap item could you find out exactly what delivery method you're using? And they have pamphlets with prices, so if you could get the post office to circle the service on the pamphlet and if you could send that pamphlet to me (I will send you a S.A.S.E), I would really REALLY be greatful! Because I'm guessing I could then go "hey hey, lookit, much cheaper! Stop RIPPING me off!!".

Anyways, thank you so much Kat, now I know that I need to resolve this issue, and not just accept it as a done deal : D

I'm in London, Ont. but it shouldn't matter for postage. You might want to check out canadapost.ca
They have a Parcel Rate Calculator which might help. It looks like it factors in weight and the dimensions of the package so if nothing else it might give you a weight/size to shoot for. cheers, Kat

Sewing spoon....it cost me about 7 dollars to send out my package as well...but my package perhaps was a bit bigger than normal.

i have sent my package lonf time ago and i payed 15 euros for each sent!!!!!!so i hope my 2 swapgirls recieve my beads. I like swap and what i say it's true but i'm in France and in the post they said may be 1 month to recieve so!!!!!!!! but i never recieve beads from patricia she note "sent" but i never said her my adress!!!i send her a mail but i never heard nothing of them!!!!!!i just recieve from one person

I have only rec'd 1 of mine, and that was from Rosalie Ackerson...my other ones shows not sent...sometimes things happen, but you can at least send an email and let your partner know whats up so they dont check the mail everyday and be disappointed when they dont rec it.

I DID send your beads, and sent you a message noting that. I live in Okinawa, Japan, and use the military mail system. Your package probably has to go back to the US, then to France. I understand that you don't like waiting for a swap to arrive. However, I think it is unfair that you gave me a rating of 1. At the very least, you could have chosen to wait to rate me. I wish you would have messaged me to ask about it; we could have discussed it. As it stands, I hope you will reply so that we can come to a friendly understanding between us.

I assure you, I mailed your beads. My other partner received hers, and I am hoping that you will also. If a reasonable time passes and your package does not arrive, I will be happy to send another.

Just so you know, I used origami paper scraps to cover the matchbox, and then coated it with several coats of clear nail polish for a little shine. There are 20 various beads inside, and I also filled the remainder of the space with small beads. I hope you like it when it arrives.
