Description: | |
We all have it...crap yarn. Maybe you bought it online and then found out it was like knitting with twine. Maybe they were having a big sale at the craft store and you thought that maybe you could knit something with red heart yarn. Maybe you too were once on the novelty yarn bandwagon...but now you are SO off it! Maybe you got some stuff in another swap that you would never ever use. Regardless...we all have crap yarn and it sits in our stashes taunting us. So why not give it to somebody else! YES! BRILLIANT IDEA! Wait...no...this yarn is crap...who wants crap? That is the point of this swap...nobody wants crap...they want good yarn! But the key is to not look at your yarn as crap but as a project waiting to happen...it's all good yarn! Think about it...someone out there must like working with red heart...or else why would they make it? Somebody likes every yarn that's why it's made. The problem is our yarn doesn't match out tastes. In this swap we will each send aproximatly 10 dollars worth of crap yarn. This could be ten skeins darice fringy or one skein of lopi...it's up to you...whatever you consider to be 10 dollars worth of crap yarn. Scraps are A-OKAY...just remember 1/3 a skein of 10 dollar yarn is worth 3.33 not 10 dollars. It does NOT have to match or be full skeins and ball bands are not required but you must send what you believe to be 10 dollars worth of yarn! But that's just part one! Then each person will then recieve crap yarn which they will use some or all of to make pressent for the person who they sent yarn to! Person A gets yarn from Person B and sends to person C. Person A then uses the yarn they got from Person B to send a SECOND gift to Person C! Everyone will get two things from the same person and give two things to the same person. The point here is to get our creative juices flowing as to what we can do with crap yarn...by seeing what can be done with someone else's crap maybe we will get inspired to work with our own crap! It can be something VERY small [a coin purse or a scrunchie] or maybe you could go bigger and knit a hat or mittens. As long as you knit something from the crap you got you're good. You do not have to use all of it and you can use other yarn from your stash in addition. It's not size that matters here just creativity! Because there has to be time allowed for people to both get and knit this swap will last for one month. HOWEVER-you should really send your yarn out the first week. That gives your giftee three weeks to make their project. If you do not have any crap to get rid of and are not intending to send yarn OR make a project PLEASE don't sign up. It will really suck if someone works hard on their project and then get's nothing in return. That said just because you get nothing don't shaft your giftee...we all have crap yarn...just make them a lil barette or something. The karma of being a good swapper will come back to you! Newbies....PLEASE contact me or I will drop you from the swap. This is a labor intensive swap and I don't want anyone to be left out. Additionally no one with under a 4 rating. Since this is a time constrained swap I am going to limit it to users in the U.S. and Canada. If there is enough international interest I might do an international one too! |
