Lot's of us love, love, love tea! And some of us love to hunt thrift stores to add another teacup and saucer to our "tea service" collection. Then there are some of us who have daily rituals that include winding down with a cup of tea. Put it all together, then swap on a Tuesday and you have a Thrift-TEA Tuesday Swap!

Here's how to play...YOU WILL HAVE ONE (1) PARTNER

  1. Take a trip to your local thrift stores to find the perfect tea cup and matching saucer for your partner. (Please list below any preferences, if any.) If no preference is listed it will be senders choice.

  2. Inside the cup place at least 5 packages of your favorite tea. (No "naked" tea bags please. All tea bags must be concealed in their own paper packets.) Make sure you list below your caffeine or decaff. tea preference.

  3. Add in a notecard or letter describing your favorite "tea time" ritual!

Particulars: USA only this time. Must at least have a 4.8 rating...no recent no-sends please. PM for exceptional situations. Must have been rated on at least 3 snail mail swaps.

Happy Swapping!

Thanks for joining this swap!

To my partner:

I love, love, love tea but I'M ALLERGIC TO CAFFEINE! How is this possible? :( So only DECAF. tea for me please. I have started a blue willow tea collection (anything similar to the cup and saucer above). But if you can't find a blue willow set, any vintage/antique looking teacup and saucer set in off-white, white, or blue would be perfect. Thanks so much!

Great idea!

I love bright colors and funky shapes, graphic flowers, kitschy designs, and sixties/seventies retro stuff, so anything along those lines would be great...

Caff or decaff, either is fine, and I'm not too picky about flavors but LOVE chai, leechee (sp?), lemon, and rosehip.

Welcome hydro75... Somehow our thriftstore are full of retro stuff you'd like. You'll be a cinch to shop for! :)

If you love to thrift-shop...stick around, most of my swaps are thrift-store challenges! Thrift stores are my second home! :)

same here, I have looked for teacups and sacers, and haven't been able to find any... maybe at some of the tinier stores or the ones in sun city... not the big chains like savers or goodwill.... have fun in this swap though!

Susi 03/ 2/2009 #

I was just think... if we can find a teacup with a saucer, how about a nice thrift store mug and a cute spoon to go with it? That would make it easier for those of us that can't find a cup and saucer! If you'd allow this, I'll put it on my watchlist!

Hi Susi! This sounds like an EXCELLENT idea for a new swap! I don't want people to be confused. So, we'll stick with the teacup and saucer for this one and maybe you can create a new swap for a mug and spoon. I'd definitely join yours! Thanks a lot for the idea!

I really love this swap.

For teacups and saucers - I love feminine florals... I'm not too big on graphic representations with bold color - I am more of the pastels or muted tones type if possible, please. :)

In teas - I drink all sorts of tea - but am not a big fan of decaffeinated teas. I love most of the traditional English teas - and my favourite tea is Earl Grey... though I do love trying new-to-me types of caffeinated teas!

Thank-you. This will be a lot of fun!

I love this! I actually collect teacups. Like alot of you I collect the retro, vintage ones. Please no gold on mine. also love the kitschy, bright colors, graphic flowers/animals, 50's,sixties/seventies tea cup sets. Hope I get one of you that likes the same. We have a great antique store here that is busting at the seams with lust worthy sets.

Welcome travelbunny!

Glad you could join us...only one more day! I should be able to assign partners sometime after midnight Friday! Can't wait to see who I get! :) There's still time to invite some of your friends who collect teacups and saucers or vintage things! This is gonna be great!
