Description:

This swap is for those of us who just can't get enough yarn! This month's color is YOUR PAL'S CHOICE.

It's very important that this be a good experience for everyone involved!! If you are new to Swap-Bot please contact me. If you have a rating of 4 or below I'm sorry, but this swap is not for you.

This will be a monthly swap. Each month a color of yarn will be assigned and you will send that specific color of yarn to your assigned partner. By the end of 12 months you will have a whole year's worth of colors! You must sign up each month to participate.

Requirements: $20.00 YARN minimum please. NO cheap acrylics! Natural fibers or natural blends only please. Any shade of this month's color is fine as is a blend with this month's color as the main color. GET CREATIVE!!! Send a unique yarn or blend that you think your partner might enjoy!!

You're more than welcome to send along a favorite pattern or some other little "goody" if you'd like but it is not required and should not be expected. Again, please make sure the yarn is at least worth $20.00. Handspun/dyed yarns are great, but please make sure you send at least what you would consider $20.00 worth and include a label with the yarn describing the content and care. Absolutely no used or partial skeins of yarn please!

This is an international swap.

My wish: In a perfect world I would like a handpainted variegated style wool or wool/silk blend or alpaca in powder pink, light and charcoal grey in a sock weight. For fancy socks that would be around 600 yds I think. Sock weight (fingering weight) for this.

Now if someone wanted to go "all out" (which certainly isn't expected) I would like a wool or wool/silk blend in powder pink and shades of grey for a cardigan which is a whole lot more yarn. Regular worsted weight for this.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone has on their "wish list."

Well, I'm still alive (woo hoo!), so I've signed up for the swap. I like any colors but yellow & white.... purples, blues, reds, oranges, greens, pinks... its all great!

I would like some deep vibrant blues or violets (varigated) or hand painted, any weight is fine. I like to be surprised so really anything would be fine.

I hope you are all enjoying the New Year!

I'm happy to leave it up to my partner - see my profile if you need some ideas!

Happy New Year!

I just signed up for this swap. My favorite color is green!

kgeslab 01/17/2008 #

I know my profile says i love yellow, but no yellow yarn, please! I'd love to try bamboo sock yarn or alpacca. I love most yarn colors, and really love interesting and colorful yarn. Pick something you love and I'm sure I'll love it, too. If you have something in your stash feel free to send it. I'd love to make a sweater for my 5 year old son!

I'm having a girl in june and would love a nice variagated yarn to make her a baby surprise jacket. or two or more solids to make a striped version. pastels aren't my fave, but pastel pink and dark brown would be alright. check out my profile for more info, or contact me. thanks!

joyacat 01/25/2008 #

yarn weight for the above yarn--sport or dk,thanks

kgeslab 01/29/2008 #

I could use some felting wool to make felted slippers for a friend. Varigated would be GREAT! Or I could make her orange socks - her school colors are orange and black.

I´m also having a Baby in July and I´d love to knit something for it. I love earth-tones, red, orange, berry, green,... please no pink, rose, light blue.

Poop! I'm sad to have to drop at the last minute...but things are a bit weird financially at the moment - not enough to panic, but enough to be prudent and drop a swap I just might not be able to fulfill. I hope you all enjoy sending and receiving your yarny goodness, though!

I like 100% merino in variegated colors, like fall colors: rust, deep oranges, yellows, deep greens. It can be sock weight or sport weight, not superwash please. Also I'd prefer one really good skein, and anything that is locally done in your area would be great! Periwinkle blue/purple is also a favorite of mine, variegated in that would be WONderful!

tamiknits 02/ 2/2008 #

I love a lot of colors, so please surprise me!

All I ask is nothing florescent and no novelty yarns:)

Jensenaddict 02/ 3/2008 #

I would like any alpaca laceweight yarns in very light pink, e.g. Misti Alpaca lace, Knitpicks Alpaca Cloud or Alpaca with a Twist Fino, about three to four 50g balls of the same color so there is enough for a shawl. Malabrigo lace would be cool too, also in pinks, I am going all romantic for Valentine's day. Thanks

kerryknits 02/ 4/2008 #

My first choice would be some soft laceweight in pink. :-) But any laceweight would be wonderful. Or sport weight. Or sock yarn. LOL

ladymadrian 02/ 5/2008 #

My dream yarn would be Socks That Rock medium weight in one of the Raven Clan colourways - Rook-y, Rauen, Corvid, Thraven, Shadow, Haida, Corbie, or Lenore. Or Beryl, Black Onyx, Falcons Eye, Lapis, Spinel, or Stormy Weather.

In general though, I like semi-solids and subtle verigates, in blacks, greys, reds, greens, blues, and purples. I generally shy away from anything heavier than DK weight. Check out my Swap-Bot profile for a list of some of my Etsy favorites, for an idea of what I normally buy myself....

In the end though... I trust your judgment! :)
