Description:

Many of us think about war every single day. How can we not?

This swap is for you to express your thoughts, dreams, fears, hopes - everything & anything that you feel about war & peace.

This is an international swap.

I don't want to limit your choices of expression. Some options include: ATCs, postcards, collages, bookmarks, write a poem or short story, burn a CD of protest songs, whatever you want to make & send out. You can send 1 item or as many as you want. I only ask that it shows what you think & how you feel.

Please note: Swap has been changed to 2 partners!

I want to believe that every person who would sign up for this swap would feel so strongly about the topic that they wouldn't consider flaking. However, to make some of us feel more comfortable about joining, I must impose the following restrictions: you must have 4.7 minimum rating, unrated new members will be allowed with a completed profile,& you can't have any "no sends" on your profile. If you want to participate & don't match the requirements, email me & we'll discuss it.

Please note: Swap has been changed to 2 partners!

Can't wait receiving my partners, I think I'll do multiple little things as this subject is so inpsiring.

Cherries 06/15/2007 #

Today is the last day to sign up. Although I do not anticipate anyone being bumped, I still need to review profiles, etc. I will assign partners by Sunday at the latest.

Any questions or concerns feel free to email me.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to share a poem I recently read with all of you. It's called Even At War and by Naomi Shihab Nye - her book 19 Varieties of Gazelle is an amazing collection on the Middle East.

Loose in his lap, the hands.

And always a necktie,

as some worlds are made complete

by single things.

Graveled voice,

bucket raised on old ropes.

You know how a man can get up,

get dressed, and think

the world is waiting for him?

At night darkness knits

a giant cap to hold the dreams in.

A wardrobe of neckties with slanted stripes.

Outside oranges are sleeping, eggplants,

fields of wild sage. An order

from the government said,

You will no longer pick this sage

that flavors your whole life.

And all the hands smiled.

Tonight the breathing air carries

headlines that will cross the ocean

by tomorrow. Bar the door.

cherrythepig, thank you for the wonderful package. I love the faces diptych, and that patch and the stickers are great: That's one of my favorite posters from the Vietnam antiwar era.

I have to say, this has been one of my favorite all-time swaps, and probably also the hardest for me to do.

Veterok 07/25/2007 #

Now I should've finally sent all the ..two packages :D Cherrythepig got just one item this time, but I hope it's useful. Danit shall have two small things, and I hope they'll arrive safe and sound!
