Description:

It seems that when a reusable grocery bag swap comes up, it's always U.S.A. only - I feel so left out.

For this swap, you will send 1 NEW reusable grocery bag to 1 partner. Please purchase a NEW bag for your partner - don't send a previously used bag.

Be sure to send a bag from a GROCERY store meant to pack groceries and NOT a department / retail store or handmade bag.

DON'T FORGET to include a note with the swap name "Reusable Grocery Bag Swap: Canuck Friendly" and your Swap-bot username.

Senders choice. Feel free to comment on what you can send or would like to receive - but just as a reference; preferences DON'T have to be honoured for this swap.

Sorry, no Newbies. Open to established swappers within the U.S.A. & Canada with no recent issues - I will ban at my discretion if a swapper looks flaky.

The only bags that I have are Sobeys bags, which is what I'll also be sending - I would love to receive ANY new bag :)

I have a really cool, new, bright green reusable grocery bag from a local store. It is a type of cloth-like material. Very sturdy and roomy. It has the earth and some sayings about reuse and recycle on it. I am looking for floral or bright vibrant colors or pastels. I'd also love a bag from Starbucks, Archivers, or a scrapbook or craft store. I just love these bags and swapping them!

pickleme 12/13/2009 #

I usually prefer the plastic reuseable over the cloth. I love the kiwi on the Sobeys bag. I hoping for a Canuck! I will be happy with any nice bag. My local Wegman's has similiar fruit and veggie bags-tomato, peas & grapes. I can't wait!

wunderland 12/15/2009 #

@pickleme - Sobeys actual has a really colourful series of bags, (artichoke, grapes, blueberry, kiwi, clementine ...) I'd be glad to do a private swap with you (or anyone) after this one if you don't end up with that kiwi one that you like :)

nwyrsevegrl32 12/20/2009 #

I prefer plastic reusable bags but will be happy with what I get.

@wunderland I would be glad to do a private swap with you. I am interested in getting some fruit or veggies on a bag. Can you tell me what others you have or is it too many to say. 8 )

@pickleme I have a couple of grocery stores (Nugget & Trader Joe's) that have plastic reusable bag. I too would be willing to do a private swap with you.
p.s. If you ladies set up the swap, I will be there. 8 )

I'll be happy with any bag I get :) If your grocery store is a local or statewide chain (for example HEB in Texas), that would be really cool but any bag you can send is fine.

valleychic 12/27/2009 #

Oh and I will be sending a bag from HEB in Texas. I don't think they have any of the plastic though. I don't think any of our grocery stores have the plastic kind.

wunderland 12/27/2009 #

@valleychic - it doesn't matter if the bag isn't plastic, nylon and canvas store-brand bags are nice to 'cause they clean up well in the washing machine :)

I have in my area, kroger, aldies, wal-mart and meijer, i personally use kohl's they are bigger and can hold lots of boxed items when i grocery shop. I would love to get soem of the ones people are describing from Sobeys but would be happy with any.

I picked a bag up yesterday for my future partner...it's one of my favorite styles as it can be folded up and snapped closed. Extremely sturdy, too. However, I'm totally open to any other style that someone picks, as long as it's reusable, that's all I matters. :-)

Happy New Year!

What is a plastic reusable bag? I do not think I have seen those. I will wait to see who I get in the swap then get you a bag. I like to pick stores that are not in your location. I have bags from all over. I love these swaps.

wunderland 01/ 1/2010 #

@dstny2001 - a plastic reusable bag is just a nice sturdy large bag with good handles usually made from post-consumer plastic materials, they're not much different than a fabric reusable bag - they get the job done just as nicely. I'm pretty sure most reusable grocery bags are plastic; at least the ones I've seen.

dstny2001 01/ 2/2010 #

I am going to keep a closer eye out. I probably even have some and did not realize it. Thank you @wunderland

lajamison 01/12/2010 #

What do you consider a 'newbie'? I have participated in five swaps with all good ratings. I would like to participate in this one too.

wunderland 01/12/2010 #

@lajamison - For me, it depends on the swap. For this one, it's likely that I would ban anyone without a few Type-3 swaps completed and well rated. I will consider you for this swap since the sign up date is still 2 weeks away and you have 1 completed Type-3. So feel free to sign up - any banning that I feel necessary won't be done until I assign partners.

priscillabrunson 01/27/2010 #

Is this swap for the $1.00 reusable grocery bags at stores? Just want to make sure.

wunderland 01/28/2010 #

Yes it is @priscillabrunson - typically they prices on these bags start around $.99, but I actually saw some the other day at the grocery store that were insulated and cost around $4. They were nice, but $4 is a bit much - I might buy one for ice cream and such when the weather warms up.

savvygal 01/28/2010 #

I would love any bag other than Metro, Safeway or Superstore from Canada -- I have about 5 of each :)

dkay 01/29/2010 #

I have a PERFECT bag. A store only in Dutchess and Ulster counties in NY. I am a newbie knocking at the door and trying to get in! I am going to sign up, please don't bump me!

angiecamp 01/29/2010 #

I have the PERFECT bag - just got back from Louisiana - from the Winn Dixie !!

crochetjunkie 01/29/2010 #

I have plenty of Walmart bags...I don't need any of those...or County market ones. I would love something weird or unusual. I don't get offended, so the funkier the better! ;)
