Description:

I just did one of these and it was great. You can never have too many stitch markers! I know that every time I need one I have to go hunting!

So here goes.

  1. We are going to send a set of 5 markers to each of 2 partners.

  2. They can be handmade or store bought but remember they should be cute/fun. We all have the little plastic ones you can buy at your local craft store! Just send something that you would enjoy getting. Be creative.

If you have never tried making a stitch marker this is your chance. Head to your local bead store and give it a whirl, you may never buy stitch markers again!!

This will be an international swap since I don't think postage for a few stitch markers will be very much.

I will Angel this swap if necessary and if anyone else is willing to be and Angel let me know.

Newbies are welcome with a filled out profile. Please no one with a rating of less than 4.5 and no one with a no send in the last 3 months. Feel free to email me if you have a reasonable explanation for the ratings and I will consider letting you participate.

wow- 4 partners? I'd much rather send more stitch markers to fewer people... not sure I can go in on this one...

If more people feel the same way I can edit the swap. Just let me know!

I would have to agree. I've been in a couple of stitch marker swaps and I'd rather make more markers for only one or two swap partners.

I'd be happy with more markers (ie a set of 6) for 2 people?

hazmatalienknitter 07/21/2007 #

I am flexible! So now it is 5 markers for 2 partners. Not a problem!!

Hi, I am new to swapbot but love to swap! Fun mail is so much better than bills & junk! Lol, i just made a few sets of new stitch markers this weekend (had fun with beads and fimo) and have to say they are cute! So this is a perfect swap for me to start with! I love the variety out there for stitch markers.

Hazmatalienknitter...i so wish we lived closer! You sound arouns my age, and lots of the same interests! Underwater knitting...as a dive instructor i have to admit that would be a new one! Done many things underwater but knitting...hmmmm. (already thinking of something )

Hi, I signed up for this swap, having just made my very first stitch markers. I'm in love with them-- they are so much fun to make, and since I can no longer wear earrings, they give me something dangly to make with my beads!

I'm a new swapper, but I'm committed to not overcommitting on my swaps, which is why I've only signed up for three swaps to start out.

I'm at a con this weekend and brought my beads with me-- last night I made two sets of stitch markers, and I think they're very, very pretty!

what is a stitch marker? shirley

mortaine 07/30/2007 #

tigerr: A stitch marker is a little loop, sometimes made of scrap yarn, or plastic, or metal, which you put on your knitting needle between stitches to mark that stitch. It's useful for marking, say, "every five stitches" if you have a repeating pattern (handy in lacework), or for marking where you started in a round, or to note that spot where you're pretty sure you dropped a stitch earlier.

When you get to the stitch marker on the row, you slip it from on needle to the next (or remove it if you need to)-- so it stays with that column of stitches. Homemade stitch markers are usually made of metal-- a metal jump ring with some beads or a metal charm attached, for example.

Just to let you know. I will assign partners at noon pacific standard time today. I am trying to give 2 newbies a chance to fill out profiles. Just wanted to let you know.

PS I hope you guys fill out the profiles. I don't want to ban anyone!!

Hazmatalienknitter: If you need an angel, please let me know. I finished 2 sets of stitch markers over the weekend, and can certainly finish another set or two before the end of the swap.

I haven't received anything as of yet:(

knitterkim 09/ 4/2007 #

I received packages from both my senders this weekend & they were wonderful! Thanks so much!

I am so sorry the markers escaped. You can tell by the postage on the envelope that there was more than a note inside. I sent them! They were tiny and could have come out the hole that you said was noticeable. The post office said that the corner could have been torn when going through the scanner. So sorry again. Kim
