Description: | |
A labyrinth is an ancient meditative and spiritual tool composed of paths that lead to its center. It is not a maze in that there is only one path to take – this allows walking a labyrinth to be a spiritual rather than intellectual pursuit. A labyrinth is a symbol of the journey of life and walking one can bring insight, peace, and healing. For this swap, you will need to find a labyrinth in your area. This should be easy enough as they are all over the world. Check out the World-Wide Labyrinth Locator to find one in your area. You will then go and walk the labyrinth at least once. There are many ways to use a labyrinth and how you use your walk is up to you. If you're looking for a way to use the labyrinth, here is a suggestion: 1) Stand at the entrance to the labyrinth. Look down at the floor or ground. Gaze at the floor until your eyes go slightly out of focus. 2) Slowly begin walking in the labyrinth. Keep looking at the ground, at your feet, taking each step slowly. Feel how each step feels. Just think about your walking, nothing else. If your mind wonders to some other thought, gently pull it back to noticing your steps. 3) As you continue to move through the labyrinth, reflect on your life. Begin with your childhood and move through your teenage years, young adulthood, adulthood, etc... Think about your mistakes, your triumphs, and how the events of your life have shaped you. Let the memories, thoughts, and emotions flow naturally as you slowly make your way to the center. 4) When you reach the center of the labyrinth, stay as long as you'd like and appreciate your life's experiences and the person they have made you. 5) As you leave the labyrinth, focus again on nothing but your steps and the peace of the moment. After you complete your walk in the labyrinth, you will write a letter to your swap partners reflecting on the experience. Some things to think about: Was it emotional for you? Or peaceful? Was it difficult? How did you feel once you got home? Was there anything you reflected on that surprised you or altered your thinking? Was it helpful? There are three partners so we will each receive a variety of reflections - feel free to write/type one letter to send to all three partners. For a five rating: 1) Walk a labyrinth 2) Write and send a letter to your three partners reflecting on the experience All swappers in good standing are welcome. Please have a 4.9 rating with no unexplained 1 or 3 ratings. PM me if you have a compelling reason to be below that rating level. Newbies with filled-out profiles are welcome. |
