Half Square Triangle = 3” finished block with one side dark print, one side light print 1 partner to receive 30 finished 3” HST’s For those of us addicted to the 4 ½” variety of these pretty blocks, here is an opportunity to get creative with smaller HST’s. Start with two 3 ½” print fabric charms (charms = a square cut of 100% cotton fabric, in this case 3 ½”). Place the two charms right sides together. Using your ruler and a pencil, draw a straight line on the back of the light print from the upper left hand corner down to lower right hand corner. Stitch a scant ¼” seam either side of the pencil line. Cut on the pencil line. Press gently so as not to stretch the block. Trim the dog ears, and then trim the block to 3 inches using the center seam line as your base. Always trim and press for success. The goal is to get as many different Mini HST’s as possible so please try to use a print only once unless you match it to a different print the second time. No solid fabrics. We’ve found that the higher the contrast between the dark side and the light side, the better the HST’s work in any project. Note that once you receive your 3” Mini HST’s you can also cut them to a smaller size if you want. When cutting them smaller be sure to use the center seam line as your base so both sides of the HST end up equal. Swappers must have at least 10 snail-mail swaps to their credit, and a 4.8 rate or better. I will angel this swap but will publicize if you flake. Please don’t make me tattle! Any questions or concerns are welcome, please PM me. |
