In so many children's novels, it is the family structure that keeps the protagonist strong during times of tribulation and hardship -- particularly that strength one receives from the empathy of siblings. Consider famous pairs and groups of siblings:
Create a series of 4 ATCs that are based upon a pair or group of siblings in your choice of a work of children's literature -- a minimum of two siblings up to four. (Choose 2 pairs of siblings if you are interested in a pair. They may be two pairs of siblings from two different books as well.) If your group only includes 3 siblings, feel free to add a fourth family member or friend to complete your series of 4. Style your ATCs after each sibling's personality, character, and taste. You may include each sibling's name on the ATC if you like, but it might be more intriguing if you left it off the front so that your partner can guess. IMPORTANT: Your ATCs can be hand-drawn, painted, fabric, paper, collage, anything that 1. fits on the standard ATC card size and 2. shows true thought and care -- not some simple stickers placed on a card (I don't anticipate this happening with all the creativity flowing around this group!) Include a note about your book(s), characters, and pieces of art. Perhaps your partner will share new insights about beloved characters, or perhaps you will find a new book to read during the holidays! It would be particularly interesting to hear about beloved classics from other countries! You will have 2 weeks to sign up for the swap and two weeks to create them, so you may feel free to begin now. Happy creating! |
