A few of weeks ago (on a Sunday), DH was clearing out the flyers and newspapers from the porch to be recycled – when he found a letter for me that had accidentally got mixed up with the papers and been missed. What a great start to a Sunday! :) As Sundays are otherwise usually mail-free zones, I was inspired to host this swap.

Swap description: A Month of Sundays
You will send your partner a single package, containing 4 separate envelopes/sealed packets (one for each Sunday of the month). Each of the individual smaller envelopes should be sealed so that your partner can make-believe they are opening mail that has just arrived that day. :)

Each envelope/packet within the larger package should contain a little something to brighten your partner's Sunday. Throughout the month, they should receive a small profile surprise, plus at least one item for each of the group themes: zines, mail art & other cool stuff:

  • Zines - something by you, or something from your stash; anything from mini-zine upwards is fine

  • Mail art - for the purposes of this swap, mail art will not include naked mail or decorated envies - although you could decorate an envie ready for your partner to use... There are plenty of other options to choose from, from artistamps to ATCs to handmade postcards to handmade stationery to mail art labels to hand-carved and/or postal rubber stamps to...well, all sorts! (Anything except zines, as they have their own category.)

  • Cool stuff - Lots of leeway for you to get creative here. It may be that you have another zine to send that you think is ultra-cool, or perhaps a different type of mail art OR it could be something completely different to the rest of your packages. What do you think is cool? Or what do you think your partner will think is cool?

  • a small profile surprise - Be inspired by your partner's profile, whether you go with colours, themes, or...anything else they mention! Try to make your partner smile. :)

Swap requirements

  • Send your partner a single package containing 4 individually sealed envelopes/packets plus a sealed note
  • Your note should explain your choices for each envelope (why you think a certain item is cool; what from their profile inspired your surprise etc). Your note should be sealed as it will contain spoilers about the contents of the other envelopes.
  • The individual envelopes can be numbered if you would like your partner to open them in a certain order, or left as a 'lucky dip'. If you number your envelopes, you may include your note in envelope #4 rather than separately, as there will be no surprises left to spoil by that stage!
  • Individual envelopes should be 1 each for a profile surprise, a zine, some mail art, and some cool stuff. You only need to include 1 item per envelope (not an example of each per envelope).
  • With the exception of the 'profile surprise', items are sender's choice; however I do recommend checking your partner's profile for best chance of making them smile. :)
  • Items should be predominantly handmade. Vintage/thrifted (so long as useable and not dirty etc) is fine, too. You may include no more than one new, store-bought item.
  • Sorry: no Fbs, slams, decos, x-slips etc for this swap.

How to rate for this swap

  • Please leave a comment on your partner's profile, or send a PM to let them know when their package arrives.
  • Do NOT rate until you have opened all 4 packages (so not until Boxing Day. You're going to have mail to open on Boxing Day!).
  • All 4 individual envelopes should meet requirements as stated above to earn a rating of 5. If in doubt, please contact your partner and/or host (me!) to try to resolve any potential issues.

The obvious bit
You already had to have a rating of 4.9+ with no recent no-sends, 1s or 3s to join this group, so the same stands for this swap. But I will still double-check before assigning partners, and nobody with late swaps on their dashboard will be allowed to join. If you have what you feel is an unfair comment or rating, do PM me & we can try to work it out. :-)

ooh! This sounds like so much fun!

Oh I love this, I love the swaps this group does! =D

One item from each category in each envie, or one item for each envie? I think it is the latter, but I just want to be sure. Thanks!

TangleCrafts 10/20/2010 #

Just one item per envie - I'll add a note above to clarify. :)

This swap has been edited to make the note you include a sealed note. Your note will explain the choices you have made for each envelope, so if it is the first thing your partner reads, it will ruin all of your surprises! If the note is sealed, it is then up to your partner whether they 'cheat' and read it first, or save for the end.

Can we put a note with each envelope inside the envelope and write a general note for our partner to read when it's first opened?

BusyB 11/ 1/2010 #

Never mind....I see that the ONE note is supposed to be sealed and no spoilers. I think I got it!

starrgazer 11/ 9/2010 #

Okay...I made it one day without opening anything...I have no will power! :)
