Description:

SEWvenir Quilt Block R3

Do you like souvenirs? I do. Well, how about collecting SEWvenirs from other places without the expense of going there? Wouldn’t it be fun to have a quilt made from SEWvenir blocks sent to you from different states, maybe even different countries, and to be able to instantly identify each place and person those blocks came from? That is our goal with this series of swaps.

You will send 1 partner one 12 ½” (measure accurately to achieve this finished size) quilt block in any quilt pattern you choose. Senders be creative, appliqué your state bird, or embroider your state flower, add yoyo’s, buttons, trim, whatever accents you want. However all embellishments must be washable. Do not send a plain piece of fabric you’ve written on, there must be sewing (embroidery, sewing, quilting, etc) involved for a SEWvenir. Send what you would want to receive. (100% cotton fabric only)

Remember that this block does not always have to be about your state or country it can be about anything of interest to you.

Somewhere visible on the block (not in seam allowance) you must add the following 4 pieces of information (suggestion: embroider or use permanent fabric marker)

  1. Your swap-bot name (or real name too if you want)

  2. your state or country (add city if you want or region)

  3. date you finished the block (at least the month and year)

  4. and something interesting about you or the quilt block, or maybe even a famous quote or your favorite Bible verse. This doesn’t have to be long, maybe just the name of the quilt block.

Newbies welcome with a filled out profile, 3 snail-mail swaps to their credit and at least a 4.9 rating.

Questions welcome, now get creative!

By quilting do you mean patchwork?? You can't really incorporate a quilted block with unquilted blocks.

perkl8r 12/ 8/2010 #

cindynvb, yes, "quilting" would mean patch work...thank you for your question!...any pattern senders pick

Is this block suppose to be finished with backing and quilted or is this just a sewn block, unfinished?

perkl8r 12/22/2010 #

unfished blocks only please--no batting or backing, thank you Islaton for your question.
