I'm watching for now, to make sure I can fulfill my obligation. I also would like to know what "tagging" means?

AndrewLips 01/24/2011 #

tagging is what some graffiti artists spraypaint on the wall. usually their graffiti name. so if my graffiti name was Banksy, i'd spray that on a wall. and that would be my tag. "hey guys, i'm taggin my shit all over the town tonight ya'll, look out for the pigs"....

..of course, i don't do any of this illegal shit. those law-breakin' bastards!

@AndreaJ You can think of tagging as a sort of 'signature'/'business card'. A lot of the time it's just the taggers name done in their own art style, and the artist usually tries to place it in as many spots as they can to increase their visibility and reputation within the community.

ps. watching this swap for now. :)

@AndreLips Nice Banksy reference!! :)

Except... Banksy isn't really a tagger. He's more of a stencil artist, and he rarely uses his own name in his work.

AndrewLips 01/24/2011 #

in his early days he was. his early work was alot different to what he does now. his hometown is like 40mins from mine. i was there just the other day and saw a few of his pieces, been to his art exhibition and followed him for a long time..anyway banksy rant over.

Thanks for the explanations! lol! You guys sound like you're really into graffitti art. I'll have to practice a little before I decide to join. Don't want to send something lame!

For those of you watching this... SIGN UP! :)

This is the first time we're doing this swap, so if you're reluctant because you don't want to do a bad job, there's no right or wrong way to tag you name!! I encourage all of you to give it a try!! :)

Looking forward to more sign-ups...
