I am an engineering geek from 8am to 5pm, M-F. The rest of the time I'm a die hard artsy fartsy craftsy person. Don't you just hate it when your day job gets in the way of the important things? :)
Born and raised in Los Angeles. Currently in San Diego.
I'm looking forward to some fun swaps and meeting new people on this site!! Very excited!
Please don't rate me a "1" or "3" without contacting me first. I can then get back to you and see what went wrong so I can make it up to you. I do a lot of postcard swaps and I worry about them getting lost in the mail.
I try to keep up with the swaps I mail, maintaining contact to see if they are received. If you don't receive a swap from me within a reasonable amount of time (at least 3 weeks from deadline to mail) PLEASE contact me, if I haven't reached you. Especially for international swaps since I can't track them through the postal office.
THANKS!!
I love making things in general, but my special, birth-given talent is pipe cleaner art. I make realistic, fuzzy, miniature friends out of 100% pipe cleaners!! People always seem to be amazed that something as mundane as the pipe cleaner can turn into something so cute!
My other hobbies include letterboxing; collecting odds and ends like hotel key cards, pressed pennies, PLU stickers from fruit, and small salt/pepper shakers; jewelry making; amateur gardening; and anything creative that strikes my fancy.
I absolutely love Cartoon Network and totally miss it now that I've made the economic choice to trade in my cable for Netflix. My favorite Cartoon Network shows are mostly from Adult Swim, particularly:
Robot Chicken. Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Tim and Eric's Awesome Show (Great Job!). Morel Orel. King of the Hill. Family Guy. Harvey Birdman.
But my faves also include the Classic Cartoon Network Shows such as:
Powerpuff Girls. Dexter's Laboratory. Johnny Bravo. The Adventures of Grimm and Evil. Teen Titans. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
I really wish they would bring shows like that back. They were so cool.
Of course, there's also Spongebob, and Ren and Stimpy.
The hubby and I decided a year ago to simplify our lives and get rid of our over-priced cable. Since then we've discovered how much TV is actually available on the Internet that you can stream to your TV!
I've taken to watching shows on Netflix and Hulu. Aside from the cartoons listed above, shows recently completed or currently watching that I really like are:
Keeping Up Appearances (BBC). 30 Rock. The IT Crowd (BBC). Murder She Wrote. Man v Food. Bizarre Foods. The Office. Dilbert. The Munsters. Futurama. Columbo.
Pink. Baby pink. Anything quirky or obscure. Anything old that tells a story, such as Old B&W photos, Antiques, Old letters and correspondence. Lately, I've developed a fascination with vintage postcards sized 3.5"x 5" particularly those depicting Los Angeles and San Diego. Twisted Humor. Small Erasers. Cute tiny things. Sparkly things. Creative upcycled items. Paper Art. Handmade items. Organic. Gardening.
I love knowing someone really took the time to make, create, or pick something out for me.
I don't like it that scrapbooking has become so commercialized, standardized, and hallmarky. While I still like pretty papers and stickers, the standardization of scrapbooking (dimensions, machines, die-cuts, scrapbooking embellishments) tends to take away from the creative process. Whatever happened to taking magazines and making collages?
And for the record, ATC stands for "Artist Trading Card," not "Put a couple of stickers on a playing card and call it a day!" :P
I also don't like it when my dog pees on my carpet.

I think that we might be television soul-mates, just saying. Also, I think that you perfectly captured why I love clanky robots in that ATC! I just want to cover my body with robot tattoos and then show everyone. Well, almost all of my body.
Did you make a robot fuzzy? I may just squeal with excitement.
..Allo! Thanks for the invitation to your graffiti swap but I think I'll sit out on this one for now and look out for the next one, :) (I love watching Cartoon Network too, especially Chowder & Flapjack!! Except I work for the channel that shows the annoying but lovable yellow sponge we all love, heheh!!)
No, I've never watched it but I just went and added it to our instant queue. Since you like The Office, do you like Parks and Rec? We love it. Also, there's a show called Party Down on Netflix. It's freaking hilarious!
Hey there, I just signed up for your graffiti art postcard swap and then decided to come check out your profile... you and I have a few similarities so I thought I'd leave a note. I'm a swap-bot newbie but I'm really enjoying it so far. Thanks for the fun swap! ~Katie :)
Hi! I'm your partner for "One postcard, one partner, touristy" and wanted to let you know that your postcard is going in the mail today. I'm letting you know because I'm kind of afraid it will be stolen (it's vintage). So, if you don't get it in a decent amount of time, please let me know so I can resend (I really hope you get the original, I think you'll love it!)
Hello! You are in my zine swap! Thanks for joining!! I am so so so with you on your thoughts about scrapbooking becoming commercialized. I don't like it either. I myself also don't like it when my dog pees on the carpet.

Hey. Just realised after receiving 2 Shakespeare quote postcards that I didn't know who were from, that I didn't put my name on any of mine either. Oops! Just to let you know that if you received one from Ireland, that was me!!!
