Description:

I just started getting into zentangles, and I wanted to create this swap, since I know there are lots of you into zentangles. I hope this one hasn't been done, or its been a while since its been done--don't want to step on any toes!

This is a sender's choice swap, and it is also a fairly quick turn-around!

For this swap, you will be making 4 inchies for each of 2 partners---so that's 8 inchies total. You can either draw your zentangles on your pre-cut inchies, or make a large zentangle and cut your inchies out of that. Your inchies can be black and white or color.

I will be allowing newbies into this swap with a filled-out profile, but make sure it is something you will be able to complete before you sign up! Also, no 1's or 3's---I will check profiles!

Why is this a Type 3 swap. Couln't they be put in an envelope.

Marryth 02/14/2011 #

If you want to get technical, just about anything mailable can be put in an envelope of some sort. ;) Type 3 = craft, which inchies are. :D

I was just thinking it was about time for another zentangle inchie swap - glad you are hosting!

Leashah 02/14/2011 #

I've never made a zentangle. Are there rules? I googled some inspriation...

pirategrrl775 02/15/2011 #

@Leashah -I don't think there are any real "rules", at least that I know of besides the kindergarten rule of staying in the lines--well, within the boundaries you create.....and my rule that I should add is trying to be neat.....I know there is a website for zentangles---I will research that and put it in the info above....too tired to do that now~~yawn~~

@LauraAust --its good that it has been a while since there was a zentangle swap---I didn't want to create anything one after the other (like the kawaii one--lol)....I'm just trying to think of swaps so I can amass inchies to make a collage like yours---I saw yours on Flickr

You can never have too many zentangle inchie swaps ;D

I have a few questions.

first, i tried googling inchies and got nowhere, just what are they?

I have done 'zentangles' for over 30 years now, do that have to be B&W, can the be color, do they have to have a theme and do they have to have a constant to them, or can they be what floats a boat?

I ask the questions, because the ones that seem to have a constant line or loop are beyond me.

Pirategrrl I am so sorry for my ignorant questions, but zentangles are extremely new to me... I looked on Google and I thought the size of the zentangles is a 3.5 inch square. Your swap mentions inchies. Does that mean that the zentangle is to be on a 1 inch square?

pirategrrl775 02/22/2011 #

@fawnscrafts --inchies are 1" squares of art---you may also find rinchies, which are 1" dia. circles.....an inchie is tiny, but you can do a lot with it---they can be made of paper, fabric, fibers, etc.....you can draw on them, paint on them, collage, mixed media---anything that will fit on it....for this swap, they can be black and white or color, there is no theme, and no constant---the content is up to you, as long as its a zentangle....I do the constant line ones since that's what I have learned so far ;)

@jennylynn46 -the size of a zentangle can be anything you want---3.5 in. may be a guideline you found on that website, but I have seen zentangles used in many ways: journal pages, on ATC's---anything you can draw on.....if you want to make yours into a 3.5 in. square you can, but for this swap, you will need to cut it down to 1 in. squares.....I make mine big then cut them down....

I posted mine today, but as its saturday im not sure whether they will be post stamped today or monday! just letting my partners know incase there is a discrepancy with post marks xx

pirategrrl775 02/28/2011 #

I think you will be fine, @tinkerbella --most partners only start to worry if its been a week later and theres nothing--as long as you clicked on that your items were sent, you're ok
