Description:

Hand Embroidered Blocks 12 ½”

Do you like hand embroidery work? Would you like to collect and make hand embroidered quilt blocks? Well, if you answered yes to both these questions, then this swap is for you! I just love the look of hand embroidery work and besides collecting 5 inch Bluework, and 6 ½” Redwork I want to collect some 12 ½” blocks of hand embroidered work using multiple colors of floss.

-one partner

-one 12 ½” block

-sender choice of theme

This will be sender’s choice of theme unless you’d specifically like to do something geared to your partner’s likes or request (can be posted below). Recipients please keep in mind that this is actually “sender’s choice”, but if your partner is kind enough to use a theme you’ve requested, or gone to your profile and picked a theme to match your likes mentioned there, then I’d say they deserve a heart!

Base fabric should be 100% cotton and as close to white as you can get it, with light cream or tan as options. You may use as many colors of floss as you want to enhance your picture. You should allow at least a ¼” seam allowance outside of your embroidery work. Please do not embroider a 6” picture in the middle of the 12 ½” block and call that done. This swap is designed to use the larger embroidery patterns. The pictures do not have to be too intricate but detailed enough to look pleasing on the 12 ½” block. Cut your block as accurately as you can to 12 ½” after embroidery.

I have several really cute Aunt Martha (Colonial Pattern Co.) embroidery patterns I’m anxious to use and this is the best excuse I could come up with to use them! There are so many different options available but you are NOT limited to patterns you’ve purchased. If you are creative enough to come up with your own pattern using the swap guides listed above, go for it!

If this series of swaps has a good response we will do at least 12 to 16 swaps, and you will have one month to complete each 12 1/2” block.

Newbies welcome with a 4.9 rating and 10 snail-mail swaps to their credit. Seasoned swappers welcome with a 4.8 rating and no unresolved 1’s or 3’s in the last 3 months. Please do not join if you do not think you can complete the project.

Swap-bot Golden Rule: Always send the quality you’d like to receive.

I would really like to combine these with the squares from the "Flora and Fauna red work swaps" So if possible anything with flowers and the use of red floss would be great. Thanks.
