Description:

The LP, Whimsy Jar, SH Group has a TAG just like this, and I love it, so I figured why not create a public swap.

For this swap you will decorate and fill a tiny (stage 1) baby food jar (approximately 2.5 ozs.) with bits and bobs of whimsy!

There is no theme. This one is senders choice. Please strive for quality.

For this swap you will have 1 partner and 2 weeks to decorate and send your jar. This is a US only swap so the shipping should be reasonable. Please take care when packaging your jar.

THE JAR:

Some crafters chose to decorate the lid and the body of the jar while others choose to decorate only the lid, leaving the jar’s contents unobstructed. Either method is fine BUT, if you only decorate the lid it should be a quality effort, a piece of paper or a sticker glued to the top is not adequate.

I would like to add that the whimsy jar MUST be decorated.

See the link below for ideas.

THE CONTENT:

For the whimsy’s contents, feel free to include items from your stash but they must be new or like new. Although the jars contents are sender’s choice please take a look at your partners profile and refrain from sending anything that they are allergic to or that they might find offensive.

Please, please, please spoil your partner. Fill your jar all the way to top! Have fun:)

All participants must have a rating of 4.8 or above, no unexplained 1's or 3's. Unfortunately, this swap is not open to Newbies. You must have at least 10 (rated, type 3) swaps under your belt. I will be checking all profiles prior to assigning partners.

Please PM me if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions. Thanks!

The link is not working?

I've never done a whimsy jar before, but would love to attempt one. Are you okay with me joining?

me2u 05/ 5/2011 #

Not sure which is what we are suppose to do, you wrote "Some crafters chose to decorate the lid and the body of the jar while others choose to decorate only the lid, leaving the jar’s contents unobstructed. Either method is fine BUT, if you only decorate the lid it should be a quality effort, a piece of paper or a sticker glued to the top is not adequate."

"I would like to add that the whimsy jar MUST be decorated."

It seems like in the paragraph you are saying it's o.k. to decorate only the lid but in the sentence it sounds like we ARE suppose to decorate the jar also. Doesn't matter to me but I've always just decorated the lid because I think it's fun to see what's in the jar and I like to use them in my scrapbooking room but I just want to make sure I know which I am suppose to do.
Thanks

The link is now working :)

@me2u I recently received a plain, glass jar, as a whimsy jar. That was the 3rd whimsy jar that I received undecorated. Each one of my partners said that they didn't understand that a whimsy jar should be decorated. I want all particpants to understand that the jar/lid MUST be decorated in some form as detailed in the description. Follow the link (which is now operable) for examples.

@3stairs I would be happy to have you join :)

i don't have a baby food jar but i have some small jars....does it have to be a baby food jar?

thisismeAXiD 05/ 8/2011 #

heatherfeather022 05/ 9/2011 #

TechGirl10 05/11/2011 #

@trelviatreasures I have PM'd you.

@thisismeAXid and @heatherfeather022 whimsy jars rock! You should have alot of fun putting yours together :)

tiggerkitn25 05/12/2011 #

So we can decorate just the lid, right? =)

TwiddleLee 05/13/2011 #

I'd like to know also what other types of jars I could use since I don't have any baby food jars.

TechGirl10 05/13/2011 #

@tiggerkitn25 decorating just the lid is fine, but make it pretty : )

@TwiddleLee I have PM'd you.

The link shows lots of jars that are not baby food jars. I don't have babies and don't have baby food jars. I have lots of nice spice jars that would work nicely and they are about the right size. Would you please let me know ASAP whether or not a baby food jar is required so can decide what to do?

TechGirl10 05/16/2011 #

I included the link to illustrate what a whimsy jar should look like. For a specific example of a baby food whimsy jar, please refer to the swap picture. As for the baby food jar, it is a requirement for this particular swap. What I am striving for is consistency; I want everyone to send and receive comparable jars.

This baby food jar is very cheap to buy anywhere. I paid .33 cents for mine, It is Stage 1 and it is 2.5 oz. Cute little jar!
