Hi everyone! I'm Mikhaila and I'm so excited to have found this site! I've seen lots of swaps going on on other sites, and was never quite sure how to join, so I'm ready to start.
The internet is my really home, but I currently live in both Reno and California, coming back home to visit my parents for most of breaks. I may take a while to give feedback, because I can only pick up packages (or any sort of mail) every few weeks. I can mail at any time though.
I love to sew and knit, although I haven't had much luck with crocheting. I'm hoping to get my friend Holly to teach me over the summer. I scrapbook as well, especially after my mom started homeschooling my brother and no longer had time. I love the take photographs, mostly to just capture memories, but my school has a very strange photo policy currently in place, so I don't get to do that nearly as often as I would like.
I love to study cultures and languages, so I've been looking over a few Ancient Greek textbooks in hopes of learning to read just a bit by the end of summer. I'll also be starting my third year of Japanese in the fall, and have had the joy of talking to quite a few different exchange students through the courses. It's also made watching Japanese dramas, movies and animation fascinating, since I'm able to understand at least part of the cultural aspects that are so ingrained in that medium.
I absolutely love Tamora Pierce's books. I read them when I was younger and I've completely attached since then. Other than that, I like The Book Thief; Ender's Game; Ender's Shadow; The Blue Girl; Hedgemon; Harry Potter; Bloody Jack series; Boneshaker
Doctor Who is my current obsession, along with Torchwood. I'm also quite interesting in anime, and just finished Blood+ and Darker than Black. I must ashamedly admit that my boyfriend has also gotten me into My Little Pony. I loved Lost while it ran and Glee is pretty interesting now, but other than that I don't have time for much television.
The color orange. Especially bright orange. Knowing secrets. Talking with strangers. Moments of silence. Hikes/ Backpacking. Reading. Teasing my friends. Baking, especially pastries. Summer dresses and hugs.
Hollywood Undead; Gorillaz; Breathe Carolina; Hellogoodbye; Owl City; Enrique Iglesias; Foo Fighters; Basshunter; Cascada; Super Junior; Shinee; ZE:A; Big Bang
I love writing. In short vignette style, just ideas or stories that pop into my head. I get very attached to characters, and always want the best for them, even when they're evil.
I love to knit, and am working on more complicated projects, but I don't have enough patience for most of the beautiful patterns I see. I also like to sew and alter/design my own patterns, but cost makes it a little more difficult for me to try all the things I want to. I've been making my own costumes for that last few years, and that has been really fun as well.
I also work on scrapbooking, and love to add embellishments, like rivets or 3-D stickers. Things that are raised off the page, to draw your eye. My family has been buying papers and stickers and stamps and various tools for years (maybe even decades) and they are something I would love to share.
Anything that is textured. Especially scrapbooking supplies. Things like brackets, rivets, embossed or pressed papers, lace, and small fabric pieces. In contrast, I also love paper vellum
Patterns! On absolutely anything. Patterned fabrics, cards, clothing, yarn, etc. Things like stripes, polka dots, plaid, and argyle.
Both sickly sweet and gothic things. Lots of pink, cupcakes, angels, along with vampires, bats and creepy Victorian architecture.
Along similar lines, I love anything that looks antique, whether or not it actually is. Victorian fashion is also a huge draw for me, as well as alternate universe interpretations like steampunk
Animals are normally not my thing, unless they are marine creatures (geckos being the exception). Any sort of project though will be incredibly appreciated, so please design and create what ever you love the most!
Postcards with locations on them. My brother collects them from different places, and I would love to be able to share them with him
