Alas, now in my fourth decade, it appears my childhood dreams of being a Glorious Queen or a secret agent or an astronaut (or even better a secret agent posing as a Queen on Grand Tour to other planets!) are unlikely to be achieved.
Consolation is found in belly dance, yoga, thrifting, out-of-the-mainstream films, and delicious vegetarian feasts shared with friends.
I have a lifelong love affair with the printed word. Not unlike a miser's treasure, the bounty of these riches (books read and books to be read) is very pleasing to my eye.
I am greatly (and pleasantly) beset by cacophony of colorful fabric, shiny beads, pretty paper, odd buttons, and a river of found objects, each clamoring to be admired right now.
I am outnumbered, outclassed, and regularly outsmarted by my two cats. They still have not forgiven me for becoming a massage therapist (what nerve--petting people while they languish for want of attention).
I hope to always view the world through eyes of whimsy and to someday be whisked away by The Doctor in the TARDIS for out of this world adventures.
Purchase of a fixer upper house has kept me busy with construction adventures (a.k.a. How I Learned To Love Power Tools), but at last I have time to begin the fun of swapping again and am delighted to return to Swapbot.
Well crafted stories make me very, very happy. I read 'cross genres, old and new, but dearest to my heart are two seemingly opposites--serious literature (ex. Poisonwood Bible, Blindness, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Book Thief) and escapist Sci Fi/Fantasy (Robin McKinley, Patricia McKillip, CJ Cherryh, Nina K. Hoffman)
I chanced upon independent/foreign films (after decades of predictable and unsatisfying mainstream movie viewing) and was completely smitten.
Independent, alternative, and local artists.
I love making stuff out of discarded items--jewelry out of old buttons, purses out of empty candy tins, postcards out of scraps of fabric and paper.
Some might say I have painted/decorated my house like a circus, I say I simply like lots of bold color. My favorites -- deep blue and blue-green.
Not a fan of pastels.
