Hi! My name is Sarah, I'm 51 and originally from Columbus, Ohio, USA. I moved to England in 1996 when I met and married my British husband. We work at home running an Internet tech business. We share our home with an Engish Bull terrier dog and a parrot.
I'm not very crafty (not enough time or space!) but I love drawing and painting, postcards, letters, decorated mail, etc. I spend my workday at the computer and have found writing letters, postcards, and a journal is a great way to unwind from that! I like beautiful things as well as cute things and love bright colours like pink, orange, yellow and green.
I love pretty and interesting stamps so if you can use some on whatever you send me it would make me very happy!
I like to spend my free time reading, walking, drawing and painting, letter writing, journal writing, watching football/soccer, surfing the internet, watching movies and TV, feeding and watching the wild birds in my garden, and enjoying nature.
I mostly draw and paint, but I have a hard time sticking to one thing for very long! I like to make hand-drawn and painted ATCs and postcards. Other things I've tried and do occasionally are doodling, zentangle, and mixed media.
I'm not really a collector and am really not that picky about the postcards I receive. Generally I prefer them written on and naked - it's both the picture on the postcard and the message on the back that I enjoy, and all the evidence of its travels across the world. :)
Most any postcard will make me happy, but my favourite themes are birds, animals, natural scenery, historic places (castles, old buildings, city scenes), tourist cards that show something unique or interesting about the place, UK Royal Mail or US postal stamp cards, nice homemade cards, gardens, wildflowers, butterflies, Moomin cards, penguins, anything post or mail-related (postboxes, postal history, stamps), transportation (trains, planes, buses, ships, etc), or anything else related to any of the things I like and my favourite things I've listed above. I love vintage postcards as well as modern postcards with vintage photos or a vintage style.
And if you have any nice stamps to use on the postcard that would be a big bonus for me!
I like science fiction, fantasy, detective fiction, mysteries, and occasionally historical fiction.
Science fiction: Iain M Banks, Neal Asher, Alastair Reynolds, Tad Williams, Charles Stross, Neal Stephenson, Peter F Hamilton
Fantasy: Rachel Caine, Patricia Briggs, Charlaine Harris, Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, Steven Erikson, China Mieville, Terry Pratchett
Other fiction: Michael Connelly, James Patterson, Lee Child, M.R. Hall
Children’s animated films: Finding Nemo, Up, Happy Feet, Wallace & Gromit. I love most Pixar films - I never want to grow up!
Comedy: Sean of the Dead, Hot Fuzz
Science Fiction: Star Trek, Matrix, District 9, Moon, Avatar
Fantasy: X-men, Batman series
House, Grey’s Anatomy, Dexter, Burn Notice, Bones, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Spooks, Being Human, Vampire Diaries, Waking the Dead, Top Gear, Supernatural, Pushing Daisies, Farscape
Natural history programmes (Sir David Attenborough is my hero), art and history documentaries
Comedy/satire – Mock the Week, Have I Got News For You, QI
Antiques programmes like Antiques Road Show, Bargain Hunt and Flog It
In general I dislike reality TV :(
Not a long list for this :)
