Hello :) My name is Hila Rosenberg and I'd like to call myself an artist.
I was born on the shortest day of the year.
With an Israeli mother and Australian father, I spent my childhood traveling back and forth between both countries, juggling hobbies as building a cozy house for the garage opossum (he ate it) and making tiny gas-masks to all my stuffed animals during the (first) gulf-war.
To this day I keep moving between Australia and Israel. Detouring different places in-between, as my favorite places are always the ones I've never been to.
Favorite Season: Winter. Guilty Pleasure: Potatoes!!!
All my favorite girls: Bjork, Kate Bush,Tori Amos, Suzanne Vega, Joni Mitchell, Fiona Apple and Joanna Newsom.
Some top notch Israeli music.
And as a hopelessly nostalgic kid of the 80’s, I can't resist some embarrassing 80’s hits.
If my art was music, I would love it to sound like a sweet yet haunting harp tune.
Just to name a few... 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' by Philip K. Dick. 'Nineteen Eighty Four' by George Orwell. 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' by Oscar Wilde. 'The Shunra and the Schmetterling' by Yoel Hoffmann. 'The Cinnamon Shops' by Bruno Schulz.
And above all else: 'Alice in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll.
Tim Burton's 'Edward Scissorhands' & 'Beetlejuice'
Michel Gondry's 'The Science of Sleep' & 'Tôkyô!: Interior Design'
Jim Henson's 'Labyrinth'
Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 'Amélie'
And I recently enjoyed Christopher Nolan's 'Inception'
I love Animations!!! My absolute favorite is: Hayao Miyazaki's 'My Neighbor Totoro'
I love animated series... Futurama, Family Guy, South Park & Spongebob :)
I also enjoy: Dexter, Fringe & Two and a half men
I'm still mourning the the loss of 'Carnivàle' :(
Miniatures, Dolls, Stuffed critters, Illustrating, Jewelry making and so much more...
I'll start with one word: KAWAII :D Well... I love all that is Japanese :)
Tea, Sweets and Snacks: I'll try everything once (well... almost... I really hate anything that has to do with 'Sea-Food'... well... I love vegetarian sushi and the seaweed is kind off a sea-food.. Isn't it ?) I'd prefer to receive foodies that come in a pretty packaging :)
Craft Supplies: Ribbons, Buttons, Beads... Are always welcome (I'd prefer non novelty). As for Fabrics: No novelty or batiks please... Everything else should be useful to me and I'd be extra happy with textural fabrics from sheer fabrics to upholstery fabrics. I do love prints (especially stripes and dots), but different textured fabrics are my favorite to work with. I love scraps and swatches!!! I make tiny things so a scraps and swatches go a long way for me...
Allergy: Dust... Aaa-Chooooo!!!
