** MAY 2014 **
Man it's been awhile since I've been on this website. To be honest with you all, the reason that I fell off the radar and that I wasn't able to fulfill some of my swaps was that I was dealing with a substance abuse issue (Please note that I mention below that I enjoyed sitting back with a stiff cocktail watching Intervention...). I have (thankfully) been sober since 2010, and I have been thinking a lot about the things that make and have made me happy. The swap-bot community came to mind, because this has always been such a great place for people to get mail, send goodies, and be connected in an inclusive, artistic, positive community. I'd like to become a part of this community again.
Unfortunately, I cannot repair damage done by missed swaps. That said, I would like (beginning in June 2014) to angel 2 swaps a month for the next year. That would make me feel better about the fact that I let so many people down, and it would help people who may go without have a smile on their faces.
That said....
Here's a little about me: my name is Kate and I live with my boyfriend Chris and our two dogs, a little Pekingese who has stolen my heart named Bella, and a big ol' lovebug of a labradoodle named Scruffy. We are a happy family, and I am hopeful that we will continue to grow, laugh, and love for years to come.
I am a fun-loving, karaoke-singing, bingo-playing, good book reading, so-bad-they're-good movie watching all around kickass chick.
things I enjoy - my puppies, writing letters, singing, acting, candles, Netflix, the colors green, pink, grey, black, purple, Halloween, Christmas, the macabre, witty banter, black tea, traveling, tattoos, Brian Froud, Edward Gorey, the company of my brothers, wearing dresses, make up, false eyelashes, gay people/culture, inclusivity, baths, nice smelling soaps, necklaces (20''-22'' chain), earrings
things I dislike - mushrooms, coffee, chipped nail polish, rudeness, most scifi, role playing video games, cats (I'm allergic)
musicians (in no particular order, and just a taste...) - The Beach Boys (with Brian Wilson), the Smiths, the Magnetic Fields, Bjork, Britney Spears, Muse, Mazzy Star, Aimee Mann, Joy Division, Radiohead, the Pixies, Simon and Garfunkel, Mamas and the Papas, Queen (with Freddie Mercury), Dusty Springfield, Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers, Bjork, Mumford and Sons, Serge Gainsbourg, Kelly Clarkson, Airborne Toxic Event, Portishead, Interpol, Florence and the Machine, the Velvet Underground, the Cure, Tom Petty (and the Heartbreakers), David Bowie, Jacques Brel, Tom Waits, the Pet Shop Boys, Blondie
film directors (in no particular order) - Fritz Lang, Alfred Hitchcock, Quentin Tarantino, Leni Riefenstahl, Stanley Kubrick, John Waters, Buster Keaton, the Coen brothers, Wes Craven, Tim Burton
actors/actresses (no particular order) - Philip Seymour Hoffman, Helena Bonham Carter, Kevin Spacey, Kate Winslet, (old school) Jack Nicholson, Steve Buscemi, John C. Reilly, Christian Bale, Jennifer Connelly, Katharine Hepburn (I was named after her!), Rex Harrison, Drew Barrymore, Christopher Walken, Meryl Streep
I think that I am - at heart - a horror movie fanatic. I love B-grade horrors, slashers, psychological thrillers, anything along those lines. I also like independent films, documentaries, old black and white films... my friends joke that I'll see anything...
The following is a list of (some of the) movies that have informed my view of the world, or just made me really, really happy:
These days, I find myself in love with Bates Motel and Hannibal. In fact, I think that Hannibal might just be the best program that is currently on television.
I am still totally into cartoons -- some things never change. The cartoons you would find me watching are (and this is by no means a complete list) Family Guy, South Park, Venture Brothers, Moral Orel, the Boondocks, Squidbillies, Ugly Americans, American Dad, Metalocalypse, Futurama, Regular Show, China IL, Archer, Rick and Morty, Adventure Time
I enjoy tag swaps and so I will list the tags that I am currently in. When I receive a tag from someone I will always thank my tag partner on their profile. Once my tag to my partner has been acknowledged (otherwise how will I know it got to you!) and I have received and acknowledged my partner, I will remove that swap from the list.

So, I want to participate in RAKs, and the first I decided to do was on June 3, 2014 - my birthday. Ten lucky swap-botters were chosen to receive a Profile-Related RAK. To keep myself straight, I'm writing their names here, so that I can make sure I stay up-to-date, and so they can see when I send! If you don't receive any RAKs in a reasonable amount of time, please let me know. I know it's not a rated swap, but it still matters to me :-D
I will send all of my swaps on time, and with the best of intentions. I hope to put a smile on your face and if there is ever any concern or complaint, I will address it immediately.
I also know how disappointing it can be to send something off with your whole heart, and not get any sort of acknowledgment. Therefore, I promise that I will rate every swap that I receive. If I haven't rated you, feel free to give me a little nudge!

Welcome back!
Congrats on your awesome rating, Kate!
I can totally deal with being friends, @kap397 :) Hannibal is amazing and I know so few people who watch it!
Thank you so much for the birthday rak! I love my stamps! Dandelion girl is my first rubber wee stamp and I love her! You made my day!
Hi Kate. Thank you for the birthday RAK! I really love all the stickers you've send me. I can use them very good for my sticker slams. Thanks, thanks, thanks, greetings from Rotterdam, Hannelore.
Your most embarrassing moment card was so funny! Just wanted to let you know that it made my week :) :p
Thank you so much for the washi tape RAK! One of the most fun things to do with it is decorate the outsides of swap envelopes with it, but it's fun to use in collage too. It's basically just fancy masking tape. I will have fun with these, thank you again!
I honestly don't know what to say. Some things you put on your profile but know that no one is ever going to get it for you...but you got me these pens! Thank you so much...my old ones are just starting to dry up. These are perfect for accents on collages and gelli prints. I really can't thank you enough! ###Happy Birthday!###
Thank you so much for the amazing RAK- happy birthday!
