Hi there!
I am glad to have found swap-bot and for the very many nice people I have "met" on here. ;)
I like to read, pretty much anything, blogs, books, magazines, newspapers. I like all genres, I just love to read. ;)
I LOVE going to concerts at the Hollywood Bowl.
I like to ski, I'm still learning and will occasionally fall, but I get right back up.
I like the Halloween holiday, but not the gory side of it. I love going to Disneyland when they've made up the Haunted Mansion in the fall with scenes from The Nightmare Before Christmas! :)
I also like Christmas time and have started collecting Nativity ornaments. I am not overly religious and do tend to keep my faith to myself. I ask that you respectfully do the same with yours.
I will try to post photos of the swaps sent/received in my Flickr photos, when I have time to do so. So don't go peeking if you want to be surprised when your swap arrives. ;) I do also post only the swapbot user name of my partner, not the full name, and I ask the same in return, please.
And like many other people on here, I do like to do my part and re-use any usable envelopes, especially the padded ones if I'm sending something that requires it. Do know that I do not re-use any packaging that is badly torn or dirty [some envies really do take a beating en route! ;)] and will wrap around the outside of it if necessary so there is a clean surface for addresses and postage.
I like sewing and do some quilting. I am a member of my local quilt guild and have joined a few monthly clubs at my local SewVac store. I'm enjoying making little coin purses & pouches & totes from tutorials I find online and projects from sewing books I have.
Speaking of books, I LOVE "collecting" sewing related books! I now have a nice library of sewing related craft books by Denyse Schmidt, Anna Maria Horner, Amy Butler, Joel Dewberry and the like, all with great projects in them and plan on having fun going through my stash of fabrics to make some of those projects.
I like to bake. I like baking cookies, brownies and cupcakes. I'm also a bit crazy about making cupcake toppers since joining a couple swaps relating to them. I even put them on the brownies! ;)
I just started doing Mail Art swaps and am enjoying the process immensely. I lean towards collaging and stamping with the occasional doodle and my work tends to be minimalistic. I've also ventured into making Rolos. Either horizontal or vertical orientation on any Rolo art sent works for me! ;) And because I've been asked, my rolodex is a rotary one.
Every so often I like to take photos but I don't do it as often as I'd like. I have joined a couple of photo groups on here though so hopefully I'll get back in to it.
I am enjoying re-reading many of the books I read when I was younger and sharing some of the authors/titles with my youngest (20something) sister. It's funny how much we both love to read. ;)
Some authors that I have currently re-read or plan to read include (but are so not limited to):
Madeleine L’Engle (I thank Mr. Shishima for having her books in his library in 5th grade) :)
Lewis Carroll (love the editions with John Tenniel's illustrations)
Roald Dahl
Beverly Cleary (my niece is SO Ramona!)
C.S. Lewis
Eric Carle
Maurice Sendak
A.A. Milne
Lemony Snicket (I know, this is more current and you know I didn't read these when I was younger but still, I REALLY liked the series!) ;)
And I'm sure there are more I can't currently remember so I might be updating this list periodically....
I like red/aqua, yellow/gray or orange/gray color combinations.
I think the chevron look is fun, especially paired with solids in funky color combos.
I like modern fabrics such as Joel Dewberry, Denyse Schmidt, Riley Blake as well as fanciful collections like Heather Ross. Helen Dardik, Alexander Henry, Robert Kaufman and Michael Miller, too. But I will never turn away any vintage fabric. ;)
Japanese import fabrics with the cute animals on it and graphic designs are super fun! (Echino and Kokka fabrics.)
I have started collecting seasonal Hello Kitty fabric. (I plan to make a quilt for my niece.) ^..^ But anything HK is always fun to receive! :)
Woodland themed anything! :) Especially fabrics or scrapbook paper. Gnomes, mushrooms, deer, owls, hedgehogs...but more the cutesy kind vs the realistic looking kind. And I don't mind you putting a bird on it. :)
Anything Dia De Los Muertos related. (Day of the Dead)
Rubber and clear stamps. And I've received some great hand carved stamps too which I love!
For PC swaps I like state map PCs or something specific to your city or state, not the cutesy animal or silly ones, thanks. I specifically use the state map ones in my classroom. I also like museum art cards. If I sign up for "sender's choice" swaps then obviously I would accept whatever your choice is to send. :)
I LOVE seeing older or unusual postage stamps on swap envelopes, even if you need to put like 10 stamps on in different denominations in order for the post office to take it! ;) And I want to thank the very many swap partners I've had who have done just that! Virtual hugs to you! :D
I enjoy the occasional cup of tea and if you have any you'd like to share please only send if the tea bag is individually packaged, thank you.
I will also list anything more specific to the swap in the comments section of that swap. Hope that makes sense. ;)
Thanks but I'll pass on the following, please send it to someone who will appreciate it instead.:
No Disney Princesses please.
I don't use powder drink mixes. Tang and Kool-Aid a long, long time, ago but no longer. ;)
I currently have no need for felt or flannel fabrics.
Please do not send candies/sweets along with your swap package unless they will be sealed in their own plastic baggie. I've received some in the past that have stained and/or melted onto the actual swap object. :(
Please know that I view this list as a suggestions list for some of the swaps and not an expectation of any extras that should be sent to me.
I don't do much collecting except for fabric but I guess anyone who sews does. Please see my Likes/Dislikes above in regards to that. :)
I wouldn't turn away any sewing notions such as
^ sewing needles- Schmetz brand , any type (universal, stretch, quilting, topstitch, etc)
^ thread- Gutermann, Mettler, Aurifil, Isacord,Wonderfil in any color
^ zippers in any size or color
Deco tape. :D
Craft or sewing patterns/tutorials you think might be fun or web links to free ones.
As I work with young children, any stickers sent my way will definitely be appreciated and shared with them. :)
Ephemera, scraps are fine.
Cancelled postage stamps, especially unusual or old ones are always fun.
Novelty buttons, any size & material (plastic, wood, etc), I love the "Dress It Up" little bags of buttons!
I join a lot of hand made swaps & I put a lot of time and effort into what I make. That being said, I understand that you might receive something from me that is just "not you". If that is the case, I have no problem if you re-gift/re-swap the handmade item so long as it is not passed off as something you made. Common courtesy would dictate you'd let the new recipient know you did not make it.

There are so many negative things on TV & everywhere you turn,.. esp on this election day!
I want to share this with you lovely ladies today!!!

Hey LSP,
Glad the soap is okay. Next crockpot batch will be scented. I do love this soap unscented though. I washed my hair with it and when I rinsed the suds out my hair actually squeaked. I happy danced in the shower, cos dats how I rolls :-)
Oh and lemme know how the acrylic block works for your rubber stamps. The place is in SFV and they seem to always have bits and pieces in the cast off sales bin.
rub a dub dub whose washing in a tub?

Thank you for the paper baggie goodness- I loved it all!!!! (You Choose theme in a ziplock tag)... You rock!
