I'm a proudly working mom of a beautiful and super-sweet almost-four-year old little girl. My husband and I work together for a small business he started up with a college friend. The business required us to move from Atlanta, GA to Huntsville, AL so we're getting used to living an hour behind our families and 6 hours from free babysitters.
CliffNotes Likes/Dislikes (full version available after the lists):
LIKES: quiltshop quality fabric, sewing notions, quilting tools, jewelry supplies, Krispie Kreme donuts, dark chocolate, hot chocolate (no fancy flavors, though), tea, fiction, volleyball, photography, traveling (and souvenirs from travel), travel writing/photography, ancient architecture, altered books (though I have yet to make one), space (Hubble images are amazing), beads, fairies, sparkly glittery things, Clemson University, mini-quilts, mug rugs, Celtic knots, Celtic music, Ireland, Irish and Scottish accents, French (language, art, architecture, food), easy-to-cook recipes, marshes and beaches, mountains, snow skiing, Asian brush paintings, Renaissance clothing and music, Renaissance fairs, steampunk costuming and components, cellos and cello music, U2.

Dislikes: Pricesses, overly frilly/lacy things, overly Gothic things, romance novels, chick flicks, heavy metal, coffee, Dunkin Donuts, modern art (a red line on a white canvas, or a bunch of paint splattered on the wall is not "art" I particularly enjoy). Honestly, I'm trying to come up with a list of things I really, strongly dislike, and that list is really short right now. Maybe it's too early in the morning...
I have been trying my skills at quilting as free time has allowed for the past year and a half, and I've been bitten by the fabric bug pretty hard. I'm trying to build my stash of good quality quilting fabrics and expand my skills in both piecing and quilting.
I think that stash swaps, mini quilts, and other smaller items (mug rugs, quilt blocks, etc) will help me develop and perfect fledgling skills and help me build confidence in my ability to think and craft creatively.
Favorite colors: I love to quilt in all sorts of colors, even colors that I don't particularly like normally. I'm a big fan of all sorts of blues, teals, purples, but quilting with oranges, yellows and reds is also beautiful.
Fabrics: I have recently discovered charm packs which I think are awesome. I love the concept of Jelly Rolls. I think French General fabric is beautiful, as well as pretty much anything by Moda (currently working a baby quilt in Bliss). I also love Japanese prints - they're just too cute to cut into so I end up looking at them more than cutting them right now.
Favorite hobbies: I love reading fantasty and historical fiction. I'm currently reading Brandon Sanderson's Mistrborn trilogy and I'm eagerly waiting the next installment of The Wheel of Time. I got hooked into Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series and the most recent book is sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. I love modern fiction, though I don't like books that exist just to be intellectual.
I love traveling, particularly in Europe. I love France and all things French (except for strikes), especially the language and art. Next on my list of places I want to travel to is Ireland. My favorite souvenirs are the photos I take - I always wanted to be a travel writer/photographer when I grew up. Now that I have a family, I just rely on travel writing and photographing for myself.
Other hobby I dabble in: Beading. I have a stash of jewelry supplies I haven't opened up since moving 3 months ago, but I cannot resist beads if I go in a bead store. I love making earrings in particular.
I love most things Celtic - art, music, standing stones.
I currently play for a local volleyball league and am having a blast playing again.
My family is extremely nerdy/geeky. We love Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Big Bang Theory...just to name a few shows/movies we love. Needless to say, our daughter loves Yoda, Darth Vader, R2-D2, and Enterprise. My crafty side loves Steampunk and I would love to create steampunk costumes and accessories (or receive them).

please come check out my new poochie bag swap http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/86975
Hi there Lukayna. I see you were interested in the " take my furry friend on holiday" swap but do not have enough swaps. I also have only completed 3 and have a few more lined up in the next few days but I do not know if I will make the deadline. I was just wondering that if neither of us get accepted maybe you would be interested in a 1 on 1 swap. Hopefully by then I will be able to arrange a swap. Please let me know if you are interested.
