I am a married woman in my early 30s who's passions include sewing, resin crafting, computers and computer history, space/astronomy, animals, and DIY projects. I moved to Victoria, BC from rural Ohio in 2008 when I was 19, met my husband in 2014, and married him on April 1st, 2018. We don't have children yet, to be honest we are struggling with infertility so I started sewing baby clothes for other people's children as a way to deal with that until we can afford to see a fertility clinic and hopefully get some answers. I do have two lovely sweet cats that I rescued as kittens, Sigma and Phi, who are named after the main characters in the video game I was playing at the time because I thought their personalities matched the characters so well (and to this day, I can't say i was wrong!) We also have an elderly rat, Barbara (She got her name because she has a marking on her chest that very much resembles the bat symbol) We're honestly just a couple of nerds trying to get by in life and taking things one step at a time.
There are no known food allergies in the house, we'll eat almost anything other than eggplant or squash. We're not vegan or vegetarian but we are interested in trying vegan and vegetarian recipes. I'm a certified spice nut, my husband not so much but he can stand a little spice. We LOVE tea and trying new teas, and we drink a LOT of coffee.
We don't drink alcohol, so please do not send recipes for alcoholic beverages as we won't be able to use them
I LOVE handmade items. It can be anything from a keychain you made, to an ATC, to a print of some art you made, or even a picture your kid drew! I just love seeing people's creativity! I also love decorated and hand made envelopes.
I will treasure photos of your pets if you choose to send them. I love all furbabies, featherbabies, and scale babies. I started working on my fear of snakes JUST so I could get to know my friend's pet ball python (I am not at the point where I can hold her yet, but I have been able to get comfortable petting her while someone else holds her! The snake, not the friend LOL!)
I recently discovered washi tape. I will love and use any and all washi tape samples. I also love buttons, and will put any unique buttons to good use.
Speaking of buttons - I also love pins, both button-type pins and enamel pins. I know these can be expensive, but if button making is a hobby of yours or if you have duplicates, I'm making a pin board for my collection and I'm sure I will have space. (I'm making a pin board because I ran out of room on my hat and my backpack!)
Magnets will always find a good home with me.
I keep every card and letter I receive, and obviously I keep every art piece with the letter it arrived with (I am looking into getting an album for ATCs, I am new to that particular hobby.)
I would really prefer not to receive anything overtly prayerful or worshipful - from any religion. I'm a very private person when it comes to my spiritual beliefs and while I'm happy to talk about these things with very close friends, it honestly makes me a little bit uncomfortable to receive super religious cards and such from people I don't know very well. Classic mythology and fairy tales or fantastical creatures are fine, as long as they are not intrinsically religious in nature (folk tales and local legends that have religious elements are also OK most of the time, please use your best judgement)
