Like many of the swappers here, I'm an artist. I just love making things and I am happiest when I am being creative! I have a BFA from the University of North Florida in painting/drawing and I recently decided to get a second bachelor's degree in graphic design. I take classes twice a week (as if I wasn't busy enough) and I also work part time as a teaching assistant at a Montessori elementary school. I spend the rest of my time raising kids (I have two), crafting with my BF every Saturday, quilting, painting and occasionally organizing my supplies. I have too much stuff!
I carry a moleskine sketchbook everywhere I go. I use it as an "idea catcher" more than a dedicated sketchbook. I love to draw with Dixon Ticonderoga pencils or waterproof Micron pens. They seem to like me :) I paint using oils mostly, but I have been known to use acrylics for my underpaintings. It just makes sense!
I used to sew things like clothes, costumes, bags, toys .... but over the years I slowly quilted more and made other things less. I am currently quilting a cover for my Nook. Maybe more than one because I can't settle on a design. Since I design all the patterns for my projects, it takes me a long time to complete them. But, I am happier with the results. So, needless to say, I always welcome quality quilting fabrics, even scraps!
Searching thrift stores and antique shops is mostly what makes collecting things fun. I mostly collect things I can use like fabric napkins, fabric coasters, hot pads and vintage dishes. I love the idea of mixing and matching instead of having sets. So, I have a basket of cloth napkins and quilted coasters where no two are alike!
I am also collecting scrap selvages from fabric for sewing projects. If you have ANY, I would be forever grateful if you donated some to me!
I am a complete stranger to most of you and I realize that my "style" might be hard to figure out. Never fear! I am good at finding a use for everything. I am always grateful to receive thoughtful items from different people with different tastes. Thank you in advance for swapping with me :)
