My name is Adria. My name is often morphed into something else, so I tell people I'm named for the Adriatic Sea (I'm not, but it's so beautiful!). I live in China, where I teach university. My 15-yr-old kitty, Ginger, came along for the journey. Back in 1994, I read a horoscope in the San Francisco Weekly that suggested exploring international work. I was 25, mired in 'quarter-life crisis'. Two months later, on a ridiculously long plane journey that should have taken six hours but wound up taking over 13, I made the fateful decision to quit what we twentysomethings then called a 'McJob' and move to Japan. I was on a plane to Tokyo five months later, thus beginning my accidental career as a language teacher and traveler. In the 24 years hence, I have lived eight other countries and somehow managed to ace my way through two graduate programs. (I nearly didn't graduate high school and was on academic probation for four semesters in college)
I'm a recovering extrovert, meaning that at age 50 I find myself wanting to turn inward and be quiet. (If you'd met me in person you would find this hilarious). I am a language and academics teacher who can't spell and suffers from mild dyslexia. I LOVE cats and will always have a feline in my life. If it were up to me, I'd have at least four but my current alpha cat wouldn't allow this. I'm a knitter of 22 years, a dilettante writer, world traveler, social justice and animal rights advocate, coffee addict, and cool spinster. I take pride in having friendships spanning decades; my two oldest pals I've known since 1970 and 1976. If I care about you and find you interesting, I will never let you go.
The happiest year of my life so far was spent in the delightful town of Timisoara, Romania, a rare time in life when the Universe aligns and all is magical. I did part of my Saturn Return that year, which may have played a role. I love astrology (Gemini Sun/Leo Moon/Leo Rising)

I am currently teaching in the Balkans and as Romania is the neighbouring country, I visit it quite often. Always enjoy my stay there too :-)
Is that fox thinking 'Yum! This cat will be tasty!'
