Hello from my corner of the world. I am a grandmother of 4.
I enjoy doing crafts and am always searching for new ideas. Most of my current projects are making envelopes or cross stitch. I have in the past made a few ATC'S. Most of those were for swaps that were for other postcard collectors.
I love to garden. I am just starting my container garden. Much of my spring and summer is spent outside. My house is in the middle of remodeling and it includes the entire landscape as well. The former renter destroyed it so I happily get to put in my gardens and new patio over these next few years. I enjoy windchimes and pinwheels. I find I like the bright colorful items for the garden. You can find gnomes, flamingoes, owls or dragonflies throughout my front and back yards.
I collect postcards, key chains, bear items, recipes and magnets to name a few things. I really am not picky on the things I collect. I like items to express the person who gave them to me. I do use the various key chains and my favorite to date is my dolphin that turns purple in sunlight.
Postcards and stamps are my biggest collections. I enjoy postcrossing and am active in a couple of groups on Facebook. I am not fond of bloody or gory postcards. My favorite ones are of flora or fauna categories. I have many older used cards that I bought for my collection. The fun part is getting a small glimpse at a stranger and their small corner of the world.
Stamps ... I just inherited my mother's collection. I have loads of spare US stamps. She has collected since she was a little girl so many are from the 1950's to present. I love the international stamp scene. I buy many of my stamps that are in my collection but it would be nice to swap as well.
I do enjoy pen pals and I am open to any new ones. My love to write and learn about other cultures has led to my liking pretty writing paper. It is getting harder and harder to find colorful writing paper. I enjoy using stickers to add color or personality in my letters. Stickers can sure brighten up plain writing paper.
I enjoy teas or cocoa but no coffee. If doing swaps with food please do not send gummy type items. I can have dark or milk chocolate. I must stress that the gummy items and coffee restrictions are for health reasons.
Recipes are another Avenue to explore the world. I can speak several languages so I have collected a few recipes in Spanish, French and German. My boyfriend and I cook a few of them together as he is learning to cook. It is also fun to just spend time together doing something we both like.
I do read quite a bit. With books, I am your sci-fi type of reader. I love history so an occasional history book can be found.
Finally a bit about me... I am huge on nature. I do all I can to recycle and conserve resources. I love animals. You find bird baths and feeders in my garden. I am the one that will stop to help an animal like a turtle to cross a road. Plants are found inside my home as well as outside in gardens. Plant choices are at times made on what animal they will attract or help. It means I love the bees and butterflies.
I am in a very happy and stable relationship. My sole purpose in writing and swapping is to meet new people and learn more about the great big world that is out there.
