Hi, I'm Sherry!
Due to personal reasons, I've taken a leave from the bot. Once I get things sorted, I hope to return. :)
I'm the member of some wonderful groups, but couldn't find one for fibers, so I made one - Hell's Grannies! If you are a fiber addict, please join us. :)
I'm a high school art teacher, nerd, and fiber collector. I hate anime, but love all things star trek, star wars, bab 5, doctor who, etc.
My favorite animals are owls, elephants, and mice.
My favorite color is chartreuse and I love greens. Favorite color combo is turquoise and royal blue. I dislike browns and oranges. I have a huge paper and fiber collection, I hate to use it.... I just like to look at it and pat it sometimes. :/ I'm a colored pencil snob and love trying new ones - Lyra are my favorite currently. I love watercolor pencils and any with creamy lay down. Watercolor is my favorite media, it formerly was colored pencils.
I'm playing with found paper now and love weird ads and vintage books. Especially any type of "How to be a good woman" things - as an ardent feminist they crack me up and I repurpose them into my work.
Politically, I'm an dedicated supporter of social causes. I'm pro choice, pro human rights, and pro education. Any vintage materials that are counter to that - super politically incorrect items - I use for my work. Again, for reference...... check my etsy store - design work.
I'm not religious, but am spiritual. I believe all religions are one and should exist in peace, but we just get it wrong as imperfect beings. Sounds hippie, I know.... I like the spiritual component, just not the intolerance that seems to be bred by many religious institutions. Please DO NOT send me anything religious.
In my artwork, I love water imagery and enjoy things like that. My favorite artist is Goya, I love his subversive spirit.
As a fat girl, I love chocolate (dark only when combined with raspberry) and am a cheese fanatic. I don't eat onions, tomatoes, or lettuce. I won't eat fruit, but I love fruit flavors, especially cherry, grape, and lemon. The smell of peaches and sweet potatoes makes me Ill.
For beverages, I always joke that I only drink water and hard liquor. No coffee, no tea, about once a month, I have a soda pop.
I love tulips and peonies, the smell of clean sheets is my favorite. :)
I have an etsy store that shows off my original photos, drawings, design work, shirts, cards, and fiber arts. Stop by and gander at my weird sense of humor. ;) Click the etsy link above to visit me. I've also started posting my swaps, art, and photos on flickr, the link is above as well.
I am constantly knitting and would love to learn to spin. My daughter says I'm spending her college fund on yarn. She's only half joking.....
I hope that helps. :) message me if you have questions. I'm also open to private swaps for art or etsy items if we have similar tastes.
@debmitch - May Mail Art - Decorate the Envelope - Snail Pens and EZ Swap group - group founder, swap hostess, and partner. No response to messages and actively posting on other social media. SEVEN MONTHS LATER - she found a 7 year old to color on an envelope, stuck some cut paper bits and teacher stickers in it and sent. She "fulfilled" the swap. She was rated a 3 because I got something, no matter how little effort was involved.
@Cloudgdurl1986 flaked on this swap Now back as @UrbanPrincessCali behaving nastily, retalirating and badgering people into changing ratings.
Piia Välitalo (Loimu @loimu - International Chocolate Swap #4 - claims to have sent twice, nothing received. Angeled by the wonderful swap host, @ChelseaDagger :D
nonraters @Maysagi6499 - May Sagi - hosted "urban View Photography #1" had me send twice...... never received in return, did not rate either. Waiting on the Two weeks to run out so I can rate her a one. And DONE - Flaker #3.
@mebanham - nonrater - for the this swap despite my sending multiple messages and posting on her wall. She's been on since I've done both and hasn't answered.
After having had a run of REEEEAAAALLLLY late senders, I'm adding this section. If you are running late, please message me. I do the same, I try to send things right away after partners are assigned. But a couple of times, life happened and I ran late.
If I have NOT RATED you, it is because I have not received it. I ALWAYS RATE, usually right away. I certainly don't mind people asking if swaps have arrived either! :)
If you are someone encouraging your child to create art by joining swap-bot, please join children friendly swaps that state the art should be made by the child. I only join adult swaps, so if i receive anything made by a child (or underage swapper - because swap-bot is an 18+ only site), I will not consider it as the swap, I will consider it a random gift. It will not be rated and I will assume I will receive the actual swap under separate cover.
If you have an artistic child, and wish to include an extra from your child or let them draw on what would otherwise be a plain envelope - I'd find THAT wonderful and charming. :)
Thanks for understanding.
is the Herpes of the Arts and Crafts world - once you get it, you can't get rid of it.
Don't send.
:)

Daaaaaang, you went there.
Hi Sherry! I am trying to improve my mood by improving the moods of others by leaving cheery/encouraging notes. I hope your students are making progress towards taking their AP tests and that you aren't pulling your hair out too much over it. Have a good weekend!
Um just because she has difficulties in some areas doesnt mean her art isnt professional looking enough. She does amazing work, some people have even bought her artwork... if she didnt have physical and mental disabilities she would be offered scholarship to good art schools and would have been offered work with a animation company or gaming company up in our area. And even if its not to peoples liking I will not let her on to see the comments without me checking them first. She is over 18 shes able to act a bit older in some areas in life. We try not to limit her
Thank you for your concern but we are on here for the art portion. She is above 18 but has learning disabilities so she doesnt spell as well. So I was helping fill it out. She can complete the swaps herself. Thanks again
