I am married...I have just reached my mid-century (but don't feel it!)... I am a teacher of the deaf. I leave in cheesy Cheddar in the midst of beautiful Somerset, UK. I have just started patchwork and quilting and I am using repro 1930's style fabrics in my Farmer's wife sampler quilt....in an attempt to be authentic It's nice to be part of a community of sew-ers. Love the history of patchwork, the traditional and the creativity.
James Taylor. Paul Heaton/Beautiful South Adele....any 'acid jazz' too......and of course the Bay City Rollers!!!...showing my age!
The Last Runaway by Tracey Chevalier...started my quilting journey. Ted Hughes' - Birthday Letters Chick lit by Jojo Moyes Recently read autobiographies of F Scott Fitzgerald and the Mrs Hemingways..
You've got Mail 27 Dresses Sweet Home Alabama Calamity Jane...Hairspray...Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! Hmmm... it's a worrying and very superficial combination isn't it?! ANY chick flicks! Also... enjoyed the new James Bond recently...cinema is for down time
Loving ....Strictly Come Dancing Love history documentaries and travel programmes too
Sewing of course...having to work hard to perfect the art.... enjoying all the learning and new friendships... in fact I have my local quilt group to go to tomorrow night... Collecting fabrics!..already got a bit of a stash... but a girl can never have too much fabric...can she? Some colours avoided thus far...browns and blacks... Have done just about every other colour in my Farmers' wife squares so far though....
my favourite block so far was Fanny....not too easy...not too hard...am doing it all foundation pieceing...it helps me get my points better aligned...dreading removing all the papers in the end!...am up to date with the sew -along...like not knowing which block is coming next...also liked it as my daughter is called Francesca...so it's the nearest one to her name and she kindly chose a pretty Aqua/white combination...trying to use actual repro or retro feel 1930's style fabric for this quilt and..my blocks are turning out more pink than any other colour...so am working hard to try to buy more retro blues and greens and browns to balance it all out. I am loving reading the accompanying letters to each block too...what a lot they put up with and managed with. Looking forward to the swap. Look forward to seeing your take on it all too. No specific requests!..that'd be rude and presumptuous. Good luck with all your endeavours...for the sharing block and the rest of the quilt...do you think you will do all 99? Best wishes and thanks for sharing Wendy
