I'm an avid scrapbooker and crafter of all kinds: I dabble in watercolor and acrylic painting, origami, crochet, and pretty much anything you can find on pintrest :)
I have scrapbooking for 15 years and have always been drawn to art. I am not the best at drawing, but I keep trying! I always thought that I had to be perfect in order to create art and through online workshops with Teesha Moore, I discovered that my quirky doodles were art! I've been doing ATCs for 6 years now and love getting to experiment on such a tiny surface!
I love painting with acrylics and have recently started playing with watercolors- I love rich color saturation and thick lines.
My husband has taught me the joys of folding origami so I love transforming a piece of paper into something awesome.
I really am not afraid to try any technique or new material- right now, I am trying all of Tim Holtz' vintage dying techniques and loving the results! I love the vintage look and steampunk: most of my recent ATCs have been in this theme.
I'm also starting to do pocket letters- I've been involved in quite a few swaps on pocketletterpals and they have been a lot of fun :)
I live in Atlanta, GA with my artistic and ridiculously smart husband and my fluffy sweet dog named Sammy. I have lived in a bunch of different places: Miami, FL, Tampa, New Orleans, Columbus, GA,Rome, GA and now Atlanta- I miss Florida and the bright happy sun- but I really want to try living out west one day; most of my art heroes live out that way.
I'm 33 years old and currently between jobs- I have been in counseling/teaching for 8 years but am looking to start working in software- having a less stressful/emotionally draining job will help me a lot- art has been the best therapy!
Ok- well I'l going to mix books with other media: My favorite books are Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Lord of the Rings, anything by H.P. Lovecraft, anything by Edgar Allen Poe, Wheel of Time series, and Harry Potter series. I adore fantasy and sometimes read sci-fi- but if there's a dragon in it, I'm sold ;)
I enjoy reading manga (light fluffy or horror...no in between), and Marvel Comics- Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers
I'm a big nerd (if you haven't picked up on that by now) and love Doctor Who, Star Wars, and any movie with Robert Downey Jr. in it :)
I love Halloween (best holiday ever)- I start planning for it in April- costumes, house decor, new crafts, food, etc. My husband and I even had our wedding close to Halloween :)
Going along with my nerd/fantasy thing: I love faeries and dragons (fun fact: my now-husband and I's first conversation was about which type of dragon is the best) and mermaids (if I could be a mermaid, I would)
I also adore the comic strip Peanuts- Snoopy is the best and Charlie Brown is my hero- I have quite a collection :)
Nothing is better than a pot of tea- I even host themed teas throughout the year! I have yet to run into a pot of tea I didn't like- but my favorites are oolong and white tea- unless it's winter, and then Chai tea is what I crave.
There's really not a lot I don't like: but for the point of being thorough: here it is:
super cutesy (think baby-ish cutesy) Game of Thrones (I know I'm in the minority- especially since I love fantasy....but not my cup of tea) English Breakfast Tea (it is the most boring of all the teas..) White Chocolate (it's really not chocolate since it ha no cocoa butter....)
And that's about it- I can't wait to trade some ATCs! Now to find swaps....this shouldn't be this hard...
Ok- so I hinted at tea preferences earlier....but my favorite teas are white teas (flavored or plain), Oolong teas (any flavor), Chai teas, and that good ol standby: English Breakfast tea. I actually really enjoy Green Teas but I am a little picky about the Green Tea I drink: I prefer loose leaf or hand-bound green teas to the pre-packaged sachets. I don't like "zinger" teas or chamomile tea at all. :)
