i spend most of my free time creating. I love all kinds of crafts. I have an unhealthy nerd love for Harry Potter and Doctor Who. I have a husband who is very artistic--he draws and paints, and a teenage daughter who is an amazing artist and wants to draw comic books for a living when she grows up. I love that we are such a creative family. I put a link to her deviant art page above.
I love oldies, from the eighties to the forties! And just whatever song happens to "catch my ear".
My favorite type of books are teen dystopian novels and Amish themed books. My favorite books of all time are the Little House on the Prairie books from my childhood and the Harry Potter books which I discovered as a young adult (I seem to prefer teen books I guess?). I still read both of these series, usually as an audio book while I am driving to work or knitting/crocheting.
My favorite type of movies are usually Sci-if. But my favorite movie of all time is Amelie. My favorite childhood movie was Labyrinth. As a family we enjoy watching scary movies.
My favorite shows are Doctor Who, Call the Midwife, Downton Abbey, Dexter and Pushing Daisies.
I love all kinds of crafts! I come from a long line of crafters and have been crafting since I was 3. I have recently started sewing clothes for myself (lots more to learn!), although I have been sewing other thing for many years. I have been teaching myself knitting and crocheting for several years and am just starting to feel confident when starting a new pattern (but I usually have to look up what some of it means on YouTube). I love creating miniatures, dolls and things from the Harry Potter world. I have done scrapbooking, but not much recently now that my daughter is older and I hardly take any pictures anymore.
I have a serious love for the past. My favorite time period right now is the early 1940s. I love to research how women did their hair, what they wore, what they used everyday. I collect anything I can find from the 1960s or earlier. I also dress and do my hair in 1940s style. Most of my clothes I sew myself because finding clothing that old means it is very delicate and usually expensive. I have been trying out pin curling my hair and it is challenging but I'm getting the hang of it!
I have been collecting American Girl dolls since I got my first one as a child. Samantha was my first because I really loved the Victorian age at the time. I used to pour over those catalogs picking out all the cute little items that my doll needed. Now I also have Kit, Felicity and Emily. I wish I had them all! But my favorite part of these dolls was always their tiny accessories! I collect and craft tiny versions of things for them like soccer balls and tooth brushes.
