Alias, AbFab, Bones, Castle, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, X-Files, Buffy, Angel, Coupling, Family Guy, Hawaii Five-0, SYTYCD, Fringe, True Blood
Anything by Jane Green, Marian Keyes, Wally Lamb, Jodi Picoult, Jean Sasson, Soheir Khashoggi. I also enjoy books about women from other cultures (fiction or non) and books about science, specifically biology and genetics.
Beading necklaces, bracelets & earrings, and crochet (nothing too complicated, as my skills are pretty basic so far).
You name it, I'll listen to it, depending on my mood. Everything from '80s & '90s to hip-hop to rock. I also love relaxing New Age-type music (Dean Evenson's Tao of Healing is excellent), Native American drum or flute music, and Celtic music (I particularly love Ceredwen ;if you like Celtic music, you MUST give them a listen.)
If you want to hear some of my favorite Native American Music, try Robbie Robertson & The Red Road Ensemble
or
or
Drop Dead Gorgeous, Sweet Home Alabama, Juno, Love Actually, Bridget Jones' Diary, Bring it On, 13 Going on 30, Bride and Prejudice, Dear Frankie, Boomerang, Slumdog Millionaire, Spaceballs, and anything from John Hughes and Kevin Smith.
I'm a single mom to one very active 10yo son. I'm a student, majoring in Biology, minoring in geography, and I plan to eventually specialize in genetics or microbiology. I also really enjoy literature classes. I've always liked pen-palling, meeting new people from new places, and sending and receiving goodies in the mail.
Things I love: the ocean/beach, the moon, dragonflies, fairies, goddesses, nature, mosaics, the smell of sweet-grass, seahorses, starfish, beads (especially any made from glass, crystals, shells, gemstones, freshwater pearls, or bone), sci-fi, reading, geography, the colors blue/green/turquoise/rose/coral/cream, chocolate (all kinds), flavored coffees, taking photos, mythology, learning about other countries/cultures/religions.
Things my son loves: Turtles, Pokemon, Bakugan, Digimon, animals in general (especially sealife), Star Wars, beading, video/computer games, LEGOs.
MY WISHLIST:
~beads: any kind except plastic or acrylic. I especially appreciate the types I mentioned above, as well as anything unusual or unique to your area.
~other jewelry findings and supplies, such as tiger tail, nylon beading cord, metal findings, pendants, clasps, charms, etc.
~I love chocolate-colored metal jewelry chain, charms, and findings, but they are SO hard to find. If you send me anything like this, I will love you forever. :-)
~sachets of flavored hot cocoa or coffee
~I would love to try candy, cookies, or other snacks that are popular in your country or region. I have no allergies, so don't worry about that, but I hate raisins so please don't send anything that contains them. Some of my favorite flavors are strawberry, peach, chocolate, coffee, amaretto, caramel, honey, pineapple, and watermelon. Oh, and I absolutely love chestnuts and would love to try the milk chocolate chestnut KitKats that I've heard about. Or other KitKats with any of my favorite flavors.
~Speaking of chocolate, I'm open to just about any kind: milk chocolate is usually my favorite, dark or semisweet is my second choice, and white is my third. Strawberry or orange or mint flavored are all fine with me. Nuts are okay, or filling, or coconut. Or just about anything else you can think of. Also, I have no problem receiving chocolate containing alcohol, in fact I rather quite enjoy it :-)
~As long as we're on the subject of food, another thing I'd really like is to try some of your local cooking spice mixes/seasonings to use with meats, vegetables, or rice/pasta. Spicy is fine with me, as long as it's not blazing hot.
~I'd love to receive some recipes for your favorite local cuisine. Would especially love to try some more Portuguese recipes, as I've really enjoyed the few dishes I've tried.
~yarn to crochet with. Unusual is fine as long as it's not terribly difficult to work with, as I am not very skilled yet.
~picture frames of all sizes/shapes/kinds
~refrigerator magnets
~any used/old/unwanted beading magazines, especially from outside the U.S. (English language only, please)
~any kind of Pokemon gear for my son, including plushies, action figures, or cards. Bakugan and Digimon are also high on his list of favorites, as are LEGO mini-figures of all kinds. He has a Nintendo DS so secondhand games for that are always welcome.
~incense/fragrance oils/scented candles/wax melts and/or burners for them
~jewelry/figurines/boxes/decorations/wall hangings. I especially like things with an Asian or Indian theme, including items that have to do with any Eastern religions. I also like anything Celtic, Pagan, Aboriginal/indigenous to your area.
~hair chopsticks, with or without danglies at the ends. I usually only use one at a time, so they don't need to be in a pair.
I have posted a link to my Amazon Wishlist, but I don't expect anyone to buy anything specifically from it. It's more for people to look at and get an idea of some of the things that appeal to me. If you click on "purchased" in the drop-down box, you'll see some of my favorite possessions that I already own and products that I love.
Please don't send me:
~earrings
~teas
~anything flavored with grape, banana, or black licorice
~anything with raisins or any other dried fruit
~plastic beads
~scrap-booking or stamping materials, as they'll be completely wasted on me
