I joined swap-bot to keep me busy and challenged while completing cancer treatments. I learned so much here. I stepped out of my comfort zone and slowly began experimenting with new things. Once I was through treatment I knew I wanted to pay forward all the incredible things that were done for me and my children during that difficult time. I have been teaching "art therapy" classes at the cancer center where I received my treatments. I met a lot of wonderful people. Many doors have been opening for me and my art. When I first started swap-bot I was uncomfortable showing my art to anyone. I never thought I'd create anything bigger than an ATC (hahaha) and I NEVER thought anyone would want to buy my art! I'm doing pretty good in both those things now. I'm so incredibly thankful to be where and who I am today. I am very humbled and blessed. And now, after teaching in the elementary classroom for 20 years I am going to teach Elementary Art next school year! So excited!

Loving Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats right now! Good Riddance by Green Day is my all time favorite song. Also like Ron Pope, Martin Sexton, John Mayer, Sugarland, Zac Brown Band, Norah Jones, Johnny Cash, Pink, Reverend Horton Heat, Split Lip Rayfield, Chris Stapleton, Shawn James!
Jodi Picoult is my favorite author. Also like all the Skippyjon Jones books by Judy Schachner. Just finished listening to Shutter Island- oooh- so good!
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Sandlot, Pulp Fiction, Savages, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days, Pretty Woman, Grease, Love Actually
I don't watch much televison. I do have a Netflix account but I've been too busy to binge. Or chill. LOL.
I love to experiment with new things. New techniques and new media. Since starting swap-bot I have been challenged to try many new things. Making paper from used clothing with the Hollander Beater is my thing! So therapeutic!
First and foremost, anything artistically and orginally created by you! Also, vintage, vintage looking, shabby chic, muted colors, dark colors, red, turquoise, brown, tattoos, rockabilly, altered books, other altered items, mixed-media, collage, birds, owls, pin-up, music oriented, mid-century.
Disney, Kawaii, neon, or glitter. If it is just soooo cuuuute then I probably won't like it. However, if the above mentioned is how you are most comfortable expressing yourself artistically then I will not rate you lower for doing so as long as swap requirements are met.
old keys, old game pieces, coins, found objects, unique objects that I could incorporate into an art piece, paper, unique or vintage ephemera, altered art, dominoes, playing cards, artsy handmade jewelry, prints.
to give me something to do during down time while in chemotherapy. I needed challenges and goals. I love the things I have learned here and the friendships made. And the ART!!
